View Full Version : Infinite Rebound? (Crazy Idea may not work)

First let me preface this with the fact that I have never played Legacy before. I don't really know much about the format, so any input would be greatly appreciated.

Now the idea:

First I should share the rebound mechanic with you, it reads like this "Rebound (If you cast this spell from your hand, exile it as it resolves. At the beginning of your next upkeep, you may cast this card from exile without paying its mana cost.)" *Copied from magic.info

Now if you could keep it from going back in the graveyard after it had been cast from exile and it instead went back to exile, you could cast it again for free on your next upkeep unless I am mistaken.

So my idea is to cast Leyline of the void, and somehow get it under my opponent's control (No idea how I would accomplish this.) Then I would be the opponent talked about on the card. My rebound spells would suddenly stay in exile permanently I believe. Which would mean every upkeep I get to cast them for free. I don't know anything about the format, but I would think that life gain, making your opponent sacrifice a creature, and drawing an extra card sound pretty good. (Courtesy of Survival Cache, and Consuming Vapors) Especially when they start stacking on top of one another.

So that is my idea what does everyone here think? Viable? Powerful? Impossible?

Impossible. Rebound doesn't trigger from exile if you didn't cast the spell from your hand - which is why spells with Rebound don't enter an infinite loop once they exile themselves; because the second time they're not being cast from your hand.

About the best you can do is using Venser to return it to your hand. Not infinite, but that's the only way I know of to get more than one use out of one short of Yawgmoth's Will type effects or Relearn.

Not to mention, even if it did work, there are better things to donate to an opponent than Leyline. Like Illusions of Grandeur for instance.
