View Full Version : U/R Stax/Breaking Hatching Plans

I've been trying to break hatching plans lately and came up with a pseudo stax build. I could use some advice in making this deck competitive.

Here is the list:

Lands:
Islands 4
Mountains 5
Volcanic Island 4
Scalding Tarns 4
Wastelands 4

Creatures/Utility:
Chain of Vapor 4
Dominus of Fealty 4
Smokestacks 2
Perilous Research 3
Hatching Plans 4
Tuktuk the Explorer 2
Shivan Wumpus 2
Crack the Earth 4
Molten Rain 4
Stone Rain 2
Force of Will 4
Claws of Gix 2
Stifle 3


It can be inconsistent, but it forces the opponent to choose between their creatures and lands while stifle denies them of fetches. I would like to find some better options for red land destruction, but as of yet those are the best ones. In forcing the each player to sacrifice a permanent you not only advance your strategy (hatching plans), but also deny them of resources.

Other options are:
Custody Battle - to hate on creatures more
Reality Strobe - for free bounce
Misguided Rage - weak card, but it is extra sac
Control Magic - Also to hate more on creatures

Devastating Dreams/Crucible?

If you're going to use janky cards, please tag them. There's only 2 cards there that I'm unfamiliar with, but I imagine that other people will be worse.

I would, but I'm new and have no idea how. Sorry...

Anyway I've taken out the red land d and replaced them with Magus of the Moon and Blood Moon which is essentially usually a one-sided land destruction card. This buys the deck some time in the early game to come up with some answers.
