Caldera Hellion + Bridge from Below

Playing Dredge - let's say I have 3x non-token creatures on the battlefield and 1x Dread Return + 1x Bridge from Below in my graveyard. After a few turns, I dredge into Caldera Hellion, and want to Dread Return it. Can I devour the 3x Zombie tokens generated by Bridge? I guess the answer is yes, but this text confuses me:


10/1/2008: You may sacrifice only creatures that are already on the battlefield. If a creature with devour and another creature are entering the battlefield under your control at the same time, the creature with devour can't devour that other creature. The creature with devour also can't devour itself.

Do Bridge from Below's triggers resolve before the resolution of DR (and then, of course, before Hellion's Devour ability)?

I have four non-token creatures on the battlefield, instead. Can I devour 5 times (3 zombies + 1 non-token creature + the token generated by Bridge)? I guess I can't devour more than 4, since I have to completely resolve the Devour ability, then BFB's token enters the battlefield, right? Need someone to confirm me that.

The first one is a definite yes, because sacrificing the creatures is part of Dread Return's cost, at which point the Bridge triggers, so before the Dread Return resolves, you will resolve the Bridge triggers. The Hellion's Devour happens as part of the resolution of the spell, so indeed the tokens will be in play.

The second one I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure it's like you said, you have to make the selection/announcement at one time. I guess you don't get to add the token. But this isn't the forum for guessing... lol, so I'll shut up. I'm sure about the first one though.

You begin to cast dread return. At some point during casting a spell you pay the cost, you sacrifice three creatures. After you finish casting dread return, the bridge trigger goes on the stack, above dread return. The Bridge trigger resolves first so you get your token. Now Dread return resolves, gets back a creature which can devour any creature under your control.

If you have got still unsolved questions, please ask again.

Edit: I'm not sure what you ask in your second question, so I'll tell you this: When Caldera enters the battlefield you might devour any creature under your control. If you have a Bridge from Below in your graveyard, you will not get the Zombie token during devouring, but afterwards, when the triggered ability of Bridge is put onto the stack and resolves.

For the second part, it doesn't work. You can't sacrifice some of the creatures, wait for bridge to make another creature, and then sacrifice the new creature. You can't do anything else once you start sacrificing creatures to the devour because you're in the middle of resolving an ability. When the devoured creatures go to the graveyard, the bridge will trigger, and the next time a player gets priority, the trigger goes on the stack.
