View Full Version : [SCD] What if tarmogoyf were banned?
What sort of ramifications would the banning of T-goyf have?

Tarmogoyf won't be banned. This thread is even more useless than the one about banning FoW.
First of all, I didn't assert that tarm should be banned or will be banned. I am asking for us to think about it.
Also, FoW serves a necessary function of preventing combo from autowinning all the time. Tgoyf is just a too-good creature

This really belongs in the community forum I think. It's more just a, "Hey, what if Tarmogoyf never existed?" Thread than any kind of real format discussion.

Do we really have to go through all this shit (and FoW shit) every other month?

I'd roll a 1d6 and blame:
Wizards
Hasbro
Mana flood
Mana screw
Tarmogoyf
Force of Will
Killing Joke

See. I'd really like to be able to give reputation on posts like that.

Nourishing Lich would be tier 0,5. Now it's just tier1.

please, stop posting useless threads. really.
lol @ uppity neckbeards getting angry. I think we could all agree that the format would be more healthy, fun and interesting if goyf were banned

Haven't we done this before? Yes, banning Tarmogoyf would also worse creatures to become more viable. Would it be good for the format? I don't know but I honestly don't care as it will never be banned in the near future.

Decks that fill their graveyard could run Care Bears like in the old days or sacrifice staying power for explosiveness by running things like Quirion Dryad. Aggro/Control decks that are mostly a collectioin of good cards rather than subscribing to a coherent strategy would become a little more trick-oriented at the expense of muscularity. Aggro decks would become a little more focused, with a clearer distinction between fast and midrange builds.
And after the initial noise, hardly anyone who didn't spend a lot on them would care.

We wouldn't have posts about how cheap Mister Johny and Miss Marple got them.
By the way, I got them for 15$.

I'm pretty sure it would get cheaper to buy. I'm not so sure if magic dealers would suddenly start throwing themselves out of windows.
