Ok, i decided to start collecting this edition, all foil, mostly because was the first edition i saw back when i first started the game.
I just would like to know what are the most difficult cards to get, other than WoG, Birds of Paradise, City of Brass and Serra Angel... i heard that cards like Lord of Atlantis, Goblin Matron and Vizzerdrix are really expensive and very hard to find.
How much is it worth a complete 7th foil set?
Also do you think it could be an investment?
How is the market going for foil complete sets? resell possibilities?
thanks for any input.

It's going to be ridiculously hard since you live in Italy. Your postal service sucks.

umh.I'm on ebay since 6 years ago and never had problems. And not only postal service sucks here.
But, seriously, why a worthless foil like Seeker of Skybreak (http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/magic_single_card.asp?cn=Seeker%20of%20Skybreak&sn=7th%20Edition) costs 20$? It's not even played in Elfball.

Looking over the prices on SCG, they don't seem too bad. Goblin Matron is at $75, and Birds and WoG are at like $60, but otherwise, the cards don't seem to break $15 each for the most part. I dunno where you saw Seeker at $20, its $10 on SCG. Actually, the majority don't even break $8.

I think the real question is this: 7th edition foils or dual lands? I know what I would pick.

A lot of sellers I've seen on ebay specifically don't ship to Italy or Spain. In Italy it's because it's illegal to import playing cards. I also remember hearing that Spain has a terrible reputation for cards getting stolen in the mail before they reach their destination. I'm not sure if Italy has the same reputation or if it's just the law that people are worred about. I think I mixed up the countries at first and thought that Italy was the one where they got stolen, I apologize.

In Italy it's not illegal to import playing cards!!! The problem is that as soon as the cards arrive in Italy a 20% TAX is applied from the government...
And btw I agree with Valtrix. A complete foil collection or dual lands? My answer is.. Well I think you know..

It's Spain that "used" to have that ban on playing cards. I remember I used to have to list that in my auctions. Italy does have a rep for crappy postal system though. I've only had one package lost through there actually, but the rep is there. It's not truly horrible, but that nasty import tax kills most sales there.
Anyway, back to the actual subject. Some cards in that set only have the art on those cards which makes the foil "Black bordered" versions premium since it's the only black bordered version of it out there. Goblin Matron is the prime example. You can't get that picture anywhere else and if you like that picture, you're not getting the black border unless it's foil.
I highly recommend shopping around a ton to find 7th foils. Most of the time, they will be dirt cheap, but occasionally you will run into ones that don't make sense on why they are expensive and if you shop around, you should find one cheap somewhere.
Isn't this set available on MTGO? Because if it is, I would definitely gather them up online first then redeem it for a nice sealed box. It would be way cheaper.

i hate MTGO, so no way i'm going to play online to get this set.
The postal service in italy is not THAT bad, simply there are some cheaters who tell sellers that cards did'nt arrive to get a refund.
As far as i know in Italy an old law states that it's illegal to import cards (though nobody at customs cares about it, it's a really old and unused law),and if this is true-i.e. if this law really exists- the only explanation i could think is for protecting the monopoly of Modiano and Dal Negro(the two biggest and oldest poker card producers in italy) against Bicycle (at least this is my historical reconstruction, i'm not joking...)
I've seen that MTGfanatic has got almost all the commons/uncommons for 0.29-0.99 $. I think i'll start from there.
Everybody would prefer a sets of duals instead of this collection, but i'm planning to drop some money once in a while on it, so duals and legacy cards always have priority.
Also do you think that i should gather only cards printed in the same language? Or mixed languages ? (i think i'm becoming obsessive)

I prefer "clean" collections, so if you start with English 7th, you should also finish a complete English set. Or you could try to put together a global set (which would be a great collection, but damn expensive, since that would include every language in the game except for Korean and Russian (I believe both traditional as simplefied Chinese were used on 7th). Then again, it's your collection, you should collect whatever you like!
I love the idea about the collection btw, and just ignore the people saying they would rather buy some duals! The biggest point about collection a certain part of magic cards (or anything else) is the satisfaction it gives you, as long as you are happy with the collection, it shouldn't matter. My global Legendary collection and complete Korean collection are very expensive, but I got most the staples I need. Besides, I still get a (proud) smile on my face whenever I look through the binders, even if both collections still have ways to go.
As for shops, I'd recommend magiccardmarket.eu. Especially if you want to go for a global set, you can find cards in all languages there and having over 500 people selling cards, gives you a look in the collection of a lot of stores/players, instead of a single store.
