Hey people,
I'm going to be moving soon to Davis, CA for school. I'm curious if there's an active legacy scene there or in the neighboring Sacramento. I tried searching online but the shops there only mention EDH and FNM standard and drafts, all of which doesn't interest me in the slightest except for the occasional draft. Anyone play legacy in Davis?

I have this same question. I'm moving there in exactly 1 week. I also couldn't find any places online with it in their schedules, but would be interested in finding some.

There is definitely not a Legacy scene here or anywhere close. However, I love Legacy and am always up for a game. Let me know if you ever want to play. Maybe we can start something.

Davis is all about standard, limited, and EDH. I go to Davis sometimes tho. Maybe we can meet up and play?

How would one go about doing this? I seem to remember PMing you on these forums like 2 months ago with this question to no avail.

I'm moving there in about two weeks. We should all form a playgroup, maybe start up some weekly events at some willing shops for store credit or something.

I'd hate to get up there only to find that my decks I spent so much time testing, crafting, and enjoying are now useless because nobody wants to play with old cards.

This thread made me finally post here on the Source after lurking for quite a while. I might be interested in playing Legacy in Davis, though I tend to prefer Vintage. The two card shops in Davis are Bizarro World (on E Street) and Drom's (on G Street). I occasionally come out for EDH at Bizarro World on Wednesdays, but don't really play much otherwise despite being able to build several Vintage and Legacy decks. In general, I've also had trouble finding anyone to play non-EDH eternal formats with in the area (not that I've tried all that hard though).

I stop by both stores every time I go Davis to look at their binder and search for legacy gems. Maybe you guys should create a playgroup. We are attempting one in San Francisco after we realized legacy is getting more popular in the area. What we are doing now is create a facebook page and post up meeting date and time. So far there is some feedback. The link of our FB page is in my sig.

This sounds good, but depending on interest I'd be fine with once every other week or once a month type of thing. It will probably attract new players to the format, but I'm fine with trying to be accommodating and helpful. I'll only have 1 or 2 decks but wouldn't mind lending them if I do manage to bring more.

Right, sorry about that. Must have missed that one.

I would be up for a weekly or biweekly Legacy/Vintage night in Davis. Drom's seems to have more Magic players around, but unfortunately they are generally very young and kind of annoying.

I suggest try once a month first. Bi-weekly sometimes is too much. However, creating a group and ask people to join is a good start to promote the format. Good luck guys! Maybe I ll let you guys know when I stop by Davis and we can play some legacy.

Me, too, but my schedule is somewhat limiting. I also agree about Drom's; I go in there sometimes looking for cards, but I much prefer to play at Bizarro World because it has a more relaxed/quieter atmosphere.

Maybe we should meet up at the Bizarro World EDH (Wednesdays, starting 5:30-6ish) and just play some eternal instead of EDH (I've actually managed a few pickup games of Legacy this way), then figure out where to go from there. Would anyone be up for that?

Anyone find anywhere to play? I'm all moved in and interested in finding some sort of regular card playing shop.

Hi, I'm in Davis currently too. I'd also be interested in playing some Legacy. Just let me know if there's anything in the works. I'd be down for playing some games at Bizarro or something.

Well three of us met up tonight and played some good ol' legacy during the EDH event. It's looking like a wednesday night kind of thing. We'd be happy to see you next week! Btw if anyone wants to playtest or play some games during the week or weekend, send me a PM. I'm near campus and always fine with playing and trading.

Or just leave a post here, I may be available at these times too, although I only have around 3 decks I can play right now.
