View Full Version : Where to find value of a misprint?

So back in 1994 I pulled a misprint out of a pack and thought nothing of it and threw it in my box of cards. I quit Magic for 10 years and just joined again this year and coincidently my parents found boxes of my Magic cards I didn't know I had. I found some nice suprises in it:

I was surprised when everyone at my local shop wanted to buy my playmat off me, I had bought it for $25 10-years ago and found out luckily it's worth much more (I was about to sell it for $50 to some kid when the shop owner told me it's much more). There was a collector at the shop that was hounding me for my misprint but the shop owner told me to hold off and check online first. Do you guys know any forums I could go to that I can find out?
The forums on magiclibrarities.net (http://www.magiclibrarities.net/) is the place to go to for misprints.
Unfortunately, since FE doubleprints are relatively common and especially since that card looks like it's quite worn, I don't think it's going to be worth much.

Cool thanks for the reply, then I'm probably going to take his offer then, he wanted to trade a FBB Tundra.

The thing on the bottom in the centers is a life counter, and the mana symbol "pendants" are the interchangable covers for it. Each piece fetches like $10USD. they're made by Flying Bicycle. back in the day(like 10+ years ago), you were the shit if you had one of these.

I'd be more excited about finding a Mox, FBB Sea, and 3 Guru lands.
The Mana Short, lol.

That playmat is worth 100$??? I still play with mine... Oops
They actually still make those round life counters in some form afaik, so I doubt they're worth tons. I have a pile of them in a box - not very useful IMO. I guess with current gold prices, the gold leaf on them might be worth something :P
The deck box might be worth something.

I would check with Ben Carp (Gunslinga) regarding the value of any miscut or misprinted cards.

Wait, what's so special about the playmat? Where did it come from?

As far as i know is one of the first ever produced...i mean it should be from mid-late nineties, something you really don't see everyday.

The tokens/pendants are life counters made with 22k gold leaf, the store guys told me the base itself is the rarest, the counters can be found. The FBB Tundra is completely played and bent in half.

My friend helped me look through the stuff and pulled these out, wow you're right I looked up on ebay and the Mox Ruby is insane, when we pulled it out I thought it was worth $100-200 at most, I had pulled it from my first magic pack and threw it in a box and forgot I ever had it. Guru lands I got back from some program helping people join and learn magic.

When I went to the local magic store and started playing again, I pulled out the playmat and put a cold soda can, some of the players went crazy and told me it's worth something.

I can't find any information on the deckbox, I bought it back in 1994 and it feels like it's made of vinyl or leather. It says Wizards of the Coast and Magic on it and has a picture of Serra Avatar on the front and Huriloon Minotaur on the back. Here's some pictures if anyone can help identify it:

Again, you'll want to sign up for magiclibrarities if you haven't - that's where all the collectors are.

Bazaars are pretty huge too...I wish my cousins would have gotten me into the game a couple years earlier; 1995 was stupid. 4th Edition...blah
