Let's say I control 1 Oblivion Ring that removed another ORing owned by my opponent. Let's say that my opponent controls a Retromancer and that there is no other non land permanent into play. Let's say that we are both at 3 life.
Now I play another ORing (the 3rd one) and of course I can't target Retromancer directly since I would die, so I target my ORing. The opponent gets back its ORing and he has to target my ORing, which gets back my first ORing which in turn will target his Oring which finally gets back my second Oring and we're back at the game state that was encountered when I resolved my ORing.
This is a loop that can be broken by both players but that none wants to break since it means defeat. How is this kind of situation handled?
