Mark your calendars: every first Saturday of the month is Karlsruhe Legacy time.
Legacy in Karlsruhe... never heard of it, have you? Shame on you! For Karlsruhe was one of the first, one of the largest and for a very long time one of the most influential Legacy-hubs in southern Germany. Sadly, that was back in the day when dinosaurs Goblin Lackeys roamed the earth and Lightning Rift was something people were afraid of... Karlsruhe's position as a major Legacy center has since been reduced to no more than fond memories - you all know the story: shop closes, none is there to pick up the torch, and all of a sudden you find yourself in the position of that grumpy old man reminiscing about ye good ole' times.
Fast forward a couple of years: a new game-shop opens – the “Spiele Pyramide”. And they want to offer Legacy too. Excellent. Now the bad news: in the meantime, Legacy has turned into an every-man’s format; much more established tournaments existing no more than an hour's worth of driving in each direction of Karlsruhe (most notably: Mannheim and, of course, Hassloch). The result: stagnating attendance numbers – despite Karlsruhe probably being the most cut-throat, top-notch Legacy event in Germany with the highest average skill per player: most of the south-west German skill is Karlsruhe-based, after all.
Time to change that – time for some publicity! A tournament wants to be covered. Let's go!
