Please include the text of/link to the cards next time, especially for spoiled cards.
Platinum Emperion (http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=110304&d=1283908864)
Reanimate
As soon as Emperion is on the battlefield, its static ability is active, so you cannot lose life.
12/1/2004: You lose life equal to the converted mana cost of the card you're bringing back, so if you Reanimate Volrath's Shapeshifter, you lose three life, regardless of what the next card down is.
You lose three life with Volrath's Shapeshifter because Reanimate is looking at the card, not the creature it becomes. The Volrath's Shapeshifter is on the battlefield when you lose the three life.

Do we agree that a player can't pay life and thus can't crack a fetchland ?
In the same idea, the opponent can't pay the alternative cost of Reverent Silence ?

There's no doubt going to be a longer, more technical rules entry for "your life total cannot change" (a completely new effect), but the reminder text is clear that you can't pay any amount of life other than zero.
Paying life to activate fetchlands is a cost, so you can't do it.
Reverent Silence is completely different - it's not a cost you're paying - so you can certainly still play it if your opponent(s) control Platinum Emperion.

Is this the entry you're looking for?
118.7. If an effect says that a player can't gain life, that player can't exchange life totals with a player who has a higher life total; in that case, the exchange won't happen. In addition, a cost that involves having that player gain life can't be paid, and a replacement effect that would replace a life gain event affecting that player won't do anything.
If I'm interpreting it correctly, based on the bolded clause, if my opponent has Platinum Emperion, I cannot play Reverent Silence for its alternate casting cost.
(What a ruling headache.)
