Hey fellas,

I've been lurking around the source for about a year , but finally decided to post once I saw the "UC Davis Legacy" thread just now. In any case, I recently moved to Northwestern University in Evanston, IL (Roughly an hour away from Chicago via public transportation), and have been desperately trying to find people around the area who are interested in magic, and most importantly, legacy. I used to live in Virginia and really enjoyed the huge magic scene there. I know Chicago has numerous stores that host FNM's and a couple that organize legacy tournaments on a weekly basis.

However, I've been having a hard time justifying trips to downtown Chicago from Evanston because 1) It's only me and 2) Well..its an hour on public transport. In any case, I figured there HAS to be people at Northwestern that play magic who are interested (or are already) attending these legacy events in Chicago.

So...if any of you guys are in the area or know people that are, please let me know.

Cheers!

Hey,
I live in Chicago and am pretty on top of the legacy situation around town. Every Monday there is a legacy event ran at College of Dupage, but that's relatively far, and with traffic can be a nightmare. I heard on Sundays there is a tournament at MTGChicago on Irving Park Rd in the city. I usually just skip the weekly tourney junk, and clean up the monthly tourneys as the prize and attendance is much better. Usually Pastimes on Golf Rd in Niles, should be close to you, runs a decent sized legacy tournament every once in awhile. Check out their website to see if there are any coming up. www.pastimes.net

You're never going to be able to make it out to DuPage from Evanston in time.

@ ChiiMagic

Thanks for the tips! As Leftconsin sad, DuPage is probably going to be too far to realistically make it. On the other hand, pastimes seems like a great store that is relatively close by. It is certainly closer than any of the other stores I had been able to find on google, and they seem to host a large number of relatively big events consistently. They're having a 1k tournament Saturday with legacy side events, so I will probably go check it out. Worse case scenario, I'll just take a taxi to the place. I figure it'll cost around $20-25 which, in the large scope of things, is somewhat fair. Again, thanks for the great tip!

MTG Chicago is a bit far. However, I believe Chicagoland games constantly hosts numerous events and is significantly closer. It's still a somewhat annoying trip by train, but definitely duable. Let me know if you plan on attending any important events at these locations.

Cheers!

P.S. Still hoping to find some more players in the area!

I'll be at the 1K this Saturday at Pastimes. My name is John, I'll be playing on an Isochron Scepter Standstill playmat. Feel free to introduce yourself, and welcome to the area.

I'll be sure to look for you John. Sounds like a pretty awesome playmat so it shouldn't be too hard. My name is Alessandro and I'll probably be trying to get into the legacy side events (I sold nearly all my standard stuff a few months ago so I don't have a deck to register for the 1K).

Thanks for the welcome!

Might enter too for the legacy side event for that day.
