I'm looking to put together a pimped out deck. However, I'm having trouble tracking down what versions of various cards even exist. Things like what kind of borders/frames, what languages (for others, I only like english cards), versions with different art, was the card printed in a release foil, was it printed as an FNM/judge/promo edition?
Does anyone know a good place to find this kind of information?

Gatherer and magiccards.info

Gatherer doesn't say anything about foreign, fnm, judge, foil, etc. I was hoping for something that was complete, rather than something that might only have some of the editions.
magiccards.info looks decent, but I wonder if there might be something better?

I've always had pretty good luck with magiccards.info - was there something you noticed to be missing?

I just do a search on Ebay and see what different cards are for sale. and if you only want foil, just search for foil and see if such a thing exists.

If you really want to do it the easy way, Star City has this nice searchable database since you only want English cards. They have images of the majority of cards right away and it'll search promos and boxed sets for you.

A while ago someone on this very forum was assembling a list of which languages each set was printed in. I know you're not necessarily looking for foreign cards, but if anyone is, you can probably find it by doing a forum search.

Malakai, http://apathyhouse.com/pricelist/checklist.php seems to be what you need. Although it sometimes provides information about cards which have been planned but never printed for some reason like russian Coldsnap or early chinese foils.
