Gideon + Mimic Vat

If I turn Gideon into a 6/6 and kill it with Doom Blade with a Mimic Vat in play, can I start Mimic Vating Gideons into play? From the oracle text it says 'put a copy of exiled card' so this seems do-able. I guess other interesting issues can arise from Opalescence + Enchantments + Mimic Vat, Karn + Artifact + Mimic Vat.

Imprint - Whenever a nontoken creature is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, you may exile that card. If you do, return each other card exiled with Mimic Vat to its owner's graveyard.
{3}, {T}: Put a token onto the battlefield that's a copy of the exiled card. It gains haste. Exile it at the beginning of the next end step.

Mimic Vat doesn't say anything about caring about the card being a creature card, so it doesn't care.
