During the recent coverage of StarCityGames Nashville Legacy $5K event SCG writer called for the banning of Survival of the Fittest. OOOOOOH GOD, a deck has taken the SCG circuit by storm! We had better take immediate corrective action and ban something! Now I think we can all recognize that Survival is a fantastic card, but is it really ban-worthy? Let’s take a look at this, and various ways to combat Survival after the jump.

A much stronger article than the SCG version a week ago. It's nice to see you detail the history of doomsayings and how things were really just fucking fine. And since it's hey-look-it's-an-awesome format, it's naturally easy to see that with every set, we get broken interactions like Vengevine + Survival, yet we have more and more answers with every set.

Thanks for the detailed analysis. Back to being pissed off at the doomcloud hanging above Survival and Legacy.

Hope WotC isn't dumb enough to listen to a couple of whiners who have 'influence' on decision-making.

Looking forward to your Smallpox article. Will you talk about the old Pox decks?I'm not sure yet what all will be in it. It's still being formulated, and I'm only about halfway done with the article. It may be long, or it may be really long depending on how in-depth I go.

With the success of Survival again this past weekend in Charlotte at the SCG $5K I think this article is even more relevant. People need to seriously start accounting for Survival as the number one threat in Legacy. If you can't beat Survival you can't win a tournament right now. It's that simple.
