Hi!

There are a few videos from the Top 8 of the Catalan League of Legacy that took place in Badalona (near Barcelona) at 30/10/10. There were 100 players playing 7 swiss rounds. Despite there were a lot of Survival decks, also in the Top 8, the breaking deck was Countertop Bant, an "old" archetype but it's still effective. This was how the Top 8 looked (bold = winner).

Top 8:

Iván de Castro (UW Training Rebels) - Iván Carrillo (U Merfolks)
Victor Martínez (Countertop Progenitus) - Lluis Restoy (UGB Survi-Vengevine-Ooze)
Francisco González (Survi-Welder) - Mario Fortes (Micron) (GW Survi-Vengevine)
Oscar Mesegué (Goblins) - Alberto Manchado (Countertop Bant)

Top 4:

Iván Carrillo (U Merfolks) - Alberto Manchado (Countertop Bant)
Victor Martínez (Countertop Progenitus) - Francisco González (Survi-Welder)

Final:

Victor Martínez (Countertop Progenitus) - Alberto Manchado (Countertop Bant)

So Alberto Manchado is the winner, congratulations!

Here are the decklists (http://www.factoriademishra.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=3167). I'll post the rest of the videos along this week.

Videos, with comments in spanish. Only the first game is recorded without trypod:

I would love to see the decklist for the U/W Training Rebels deck. I was working on one but my meta did not suit it so I scrapped it. Playing it again would be good though.

I'll post the rest of the videos and the decklists along this week.
It's frustating that every thread I post, 2 or 3 users ask the same.

Feels stupid to miss that xD, but you emphasize other things in your post. Eyes get focused on emphasized words, missing the others.

This game was already lost at this point. I'd have gone for Iona on Red in the previous turn instead of going for 2 Vengevines, no blocking meant me at 8 life with 3 lands in hand while he running into gas thanks to Squee, and by gas I mean double Wurmcoil or Triskelion per turn. Too bad I didn't see a Swords but I can't complain at all after T1 Hierarch T2 Survival.

The welder survival list is wrong. I saw TFK in the video, but it's not in the list.

At least you could have left MoR untapped to buy you more turn(s) to either find Swords or swing back with more VV, or play Pridemage(s) to disrupt Welder shenanigans.

Fixed the problems with the decklists and here are the videos of the Top 4, very interesting for those who like seeing Merfolks being smashed:

Can't figure out if that LoA attack was a blunder or some kind of really bad bluff

Thanks for videos yet again Enric!

As for matches - that merfolk guy played really poorly against counter-top, basically giving match away. In first game he walked right into daze trap, and then lost fow which could have prevented counterbalance lock if he played differently...
In g2 he did awesome job of loosing LoA :really:

Welder list looks great!

Good to see a bigger tournament not dominated by Vengevines. Thanks once again for the great work, keep it up.

It's frustating that every thread I post, 2 or 3 users ask the same.

It seems that some people only "scan" your posts, only for links for videos and decklists, thats sad, but most of us still read your post ;-)

As allways : Thanks for your good work !!!

@ Vengevines : I also hope that this hype does't end in bannings, i think the meta will adapt it as allwys and then the hype ends sooner or later.

The merfolk player does the typical mistake of thinking that LoA has Islandwalk, I talked to him after the match and he said that he was very nervous and that it was his 3rd Legacy tournament.

@All: tomorrow I'll post the final match, an entertaining mirror.

The guy who publishes Top8 lists told us that he had problems with Survival-Welder list because an extremely poor writing of that list.

I think that G3 plays a scryb ranger that gets killed with a jitte counter.

The guy that plays Welder, should read the oracle on the card. Around 1:00 in G3, when the opponent uses Macabre in reponse to the Welder activation, he does not have to sacrifice the wall because one of the targets have become illegal.

The Welder List was pretty cool to see in action, I may give it a shot at some point.

Thanks for the great videos! Very enjoyable to watch.
