As most of you will know, the Magic community lost a very valuable resource when DeckCheck.net was closed. This is why me and some people from the German MTG-Forum decided to create a new website that would pick things up where DeckCheck left off and serve as a replacement.

And today, I would finally like to announce that our website is now online at http://deckbase.net/!

DeckBase has a various advanced features that you might recognize from DeckCheck, as well as several new things. And over time, we hope to expand the website even further, so we are happy to hear any suggestions you might have.

For example, DeckBase is integrated with DeckStats.net (http://deckstats.net/), which allows you to easily get advanced statistics on any deck you see. It also automatically identifies similar decks and provides links to them, which is often very interesting to see.

To make sure what happened to DeckCheck won't happen to DeckBase, we also decided to publish our content under a CC license, which ensures that decks won't get lost due to licensing/copyright issues if the site should ever be shut down. By the way, this is also the reason why we didn't copy any content from DeckCheck, since we didn't want to start off the website on shaky legal ground.

Because DeckBase is so new, we are also looking for people to help us with finding new decks, as well as checking and publishing decks submitted by visitors. If you would like to work in our team, please send a message with some details on your tournament experience to me!

If you have any questions or ideas, feel free to post here, send me a message, our use our feedback page!

Why did deckcheck shut down? I really liked that site. Also, it did wonders for my popularity. I still get weird PMs about how to play Enchantress.

Yet another generic deckcheck replacement. There are like 5 around already.

The owner was unhappy with a policy change by WotC and decided to shut down his websites as a form of protest. I think there is more on it here: http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?19077-GerMagic-de-and-Deckcheck-net-wil-go-offline-on-22-oct

I don't think the redundancy is all that bad(a little competition never hurt anyone).

Also, in the event one or more goes down and the database is not available, there are backups in the form of other sites.

I'm hoping the competition will lend to some very good decklist sites. Deckcheck was the end all be all site. I wish that the void gets eventually filled with something even more advanced than it was.

I enter in any deck and clicking in 'Deck Statistics' links me to index of http://deckstats.net/ but doesn't open the current deck in the deckstats. Is it a bug?

Sorry about that, it should be fixed now!

Short update: We completely rewrote the design and improved the layout of most pages, as well as the speed. Please let me know if you have any more feature requests or suggestions!

The site is looking good. But could you sort the contents of a deck according to card type (lands, creatures, other spells, ...). Currently, when I open a deck there are three columns with no apparent logic, e.g.:

3 Frost Titan
4 Preordain
5 Island
3 Forest
2 Mountain
3 Copperline Gorge

4 Mana Leak
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
4 Explore
4 Raging Ravine
2 Halimar Depths

4 Lotus Cobra
3 Oracle of Mul Daya
3 Goblin Ruinblaster
4 Scalding Tarn
4 Misty Rainforest

Looks very clean! I like it alot, a few suggestions:

- The <Deck> section isn't very browser friendly. It's listing all decks by date. In the future, maybe a filter to filter by date, by deck type, by color, by archetype would be supreme.

But other than that, a solid layout and looks very clean to the eye. But I think more details on the user-friendly-ness and ease of searching/filtering using drop-downs or some form of navigation/filter would make it stand out against its competitors.

Keep up the great work though!

Seems like Magiccardmarket has started their own version of Deckcheck (http://www.deckcheck.org/)......

Lol D2 hopping barb ftw :P

THere seems to be quite a lot of competition, aren't all these replacements using the same database/source of decklists?

Right now the lists are displayed in the order they are submitted. I am working on a way to have them sorted automatically though!

This is on my to-do list as well. :)

It's not a project by Magiccardmarket as far as I know, but yes I am aware that there is another site out there. Anyway, I hope that you will choose DeckBase ;)

We have our own database, independent from the old DeckCheck. Some people did copy the old datbase, but we chose not to for legal reasons.

Alright, today I added deck list sorting as well as an archetype overview (http://deckbase.net/archetypes.php) to the site: http://deckbase.net/

Please note that some of our decks still don't have an archetype specified though... If you see such a deck, feel free to click on the link "unknown - please click here to set! " and set it.

Another quick update from my site: We have vastly improved the way deck tables (http://deckbase.net/format-legacy-3.html) are displayed over the last few days. You can now not only sort them, but also filter them by various criteria to find exactly the decks you want.

In addition, you can now register an account (http://deckbase.net/login.php) on our site and get rid of the annoying CAPTCHAs, as well as gain the ability to edit submitted decks later. In the future, registered users will also be able to save their personal decks and share them with others, separate from the official tournament decks.

Enjoy! :)

User profiles and saved decks have now been enabled! If you are logged in, you can now save your own decks on DeckBase.net to share them with others or show them to your friends. In addition, there is now a profile page for every registered user, where own decks and submissions are listed.

And a few more updates: Decklists are now split up a bit more (into Instants/Sorceries and Other Spells, as well as Basic Lands and Other Lands) and the form for saving personal decks has been improved. Enjoy! :)
