Hey guys,
Thought I'd take a crack at making a Wizard Deck, so here it is...
Land - 22
2x Maze of Ith
4x Mutavault
16x Island
Creatures - 21
1x Azami, Lady of Scrolls
2x Aphetto Alchemist
2x Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir
4x Cursecatcher
4x Disruptive Student
4x Spiketail Hatchling (although not a wizard, still in the deck for his ability)
4x Patron Wizard
Planeswalker - 2
2x Jace, the Mind Sculptor
Instant / Sorcery / Enchantment - 15
3x Standstill
4x Arcane Lab
4x Spell Pierce
4x Force of Will
So the idea is to counter as much stuff as possible until I get the lock down with Arcane Lab.
Any thoughts??
Cheers!

Spiketail hatchling has got to go. You need to maximize the number of wizards especiallly ones costing less than your patron wizard. Sage of Epityr is really nice. Maze of Ith looks nice in here but Wasteland is more relevant. Good creature removal are shackles and sower of temptation.
Oh my, Disruptive Student is questionable. It costs as much as your patron wizard but is selfish in sharing his abilities. The Patron (your best Wizard) need fuel the moment he hits play. Two Wizards in play at least (incl him) for him to have the impact he needs to have.
Enlave Cryptologist looks decent but I've never tested it.

You could add [ cards]Stifle[/cards] and [ cards]Wasteland[/cards] vor Manadenial, because most of your Wizard effects (like from the patron for example) arent that good if your opponent has 5 lands out.
Sry for my English^^

Hey, I was testing a wizard EDH deck once, a few good wizards you may have missed are:
Fatespinner
Lullmage Mentor
Willbender
Voidmage Prodigy
Hope this helps :)
I'd find some place for spellstutter sprite and vendilion clique.

Riptide Laboratory is very good with Spellstutter Sprite and Vendilion Clique.
Is Venser too expensive?
Spellstutter sprite > spiketail drake

Add Sower of Temptation, Glen Elendra Archmage and maybe Trinket Mage. Also consider Vedalken Aethermage as a tutor, of sorts.
Riptide Laboratory seems like it needs to find a place so you can abuse Sower and Clique.

You might want to read this thread for ideas -http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?13847-Vial-Wizard
Basically, the only way this will be competitive is with Aether Vial.

I was debating running a wizards list with a focus on faeries with a U/b mix. I really feel that a splash is fairly neccessary for the deck to function. You do have options like Aether Spellbomb for 'removal', fetchable with Trinket Mage, but it's only temporary.
The idea behind my wizards/faeries setup would be something like this:
Stonybrook Bannaret x4
Trinket Mage x3
Vendilion Clique x3
Spellstutter Sprite x4
Sower of Temptation x2
Bitterblossom x4
Brainstorm x4
Force of Will x4
Spell Pierce x2
Smother x3
Umezawa's Jitte x2
Engineered Explosives x1
Pithing Needle x1
Sensei's Divining Top x1
22 land
Riptide Laboratory x2
Academy Ruinx x1
Vault of Whispers x1
Seat of the Synod x1
Polluted Delta x4
Underground Sea x4
Tundra x1
Secluded Glen x4
Mutavault x4
The basic premise was Stonybrook Bannaret making all your Faeries/Trinket Mages uber cheap. Riptide to recur Trinket Mage for artifact lands/Needle/Explosives/Top. Tundra x1 would be so you could get Explosives up to 3 counters. The only variation I would seriously consider (if I went this route) would be to focus on white slightly more, allowing for Swords/Path to take Smother's slot. Three colors opens you up to Wasteland pretty badly (although, the deck is already non-basic heavy, another color won't make much difference.
Another option is Venser, Shaper Savant, especially with Stonybrook making him essentially only cost 3 mana instead of 4. Powerful synergy, but in legacy, maybe not enough. I'd LOVE to try it though, and show someone how to win with a Stonybrook Bannaret, lol. Islandwalk seems fairly relevant when attached to a Jitte, too.
Tell me what you think.
