I can’t think of any cool witty banter to begin this report so I’ll just dive in and talk about my matchups.

Here is the list I ran for reference.
4 Survival of the Fittest
4 Natural Order

1 Anger
1 Squee, Goblin Nabob
1 Viridian Zealot
1 Progenitus
1 Ezuri, Renegade Leader

4 Llanowar Elves
4 Fyndhorn Elves
4 Fauna Shaman
4 Priest of Titania
3 Quirion Ranger
4 Elvish Archdruid
4 Imperious Perfect
2 Elvish Champion

3 Wooded Foothills
3 Windswept Heath
3 Taiga
9 Forest

Sideboard:
4 Krosan Grip
4 Mindbreak Trap
4 Chalice of the Void
2 Faerie Macabre
1 Emrukal, Aeons Torn

Also sidenote: I don’t recall what I boarded out as its usually whatever I am feeling at the time so unless it was 1-2 cards Ill just mention what went in.

Round 1: Ryan Mckinney UGW Vengevine

Game1: He leads off with hierarch which tells me vengevine which makes me glad to start out this event on a positive matchup. I drop llanowar and follow it up with archdruid then perfect and ranger. I try to drop Champion for the win and he force of will’s and gets his vengevines online and wonders my face in.

SB: +2 Faerie Macabre, +1 Emrakul, +4 Krosan Grip

Game 2: Similar start to the first game llanowar, a lord or two and then he drops peacekeeper. I’m like welllll shit, great there goes round 1. After the 10 seconds of lets pack it in I decided to play it since you never know what will happen. We get into about 4-6 turns of creature pass etc and I keep talking about how I got price of progress (He’s at 8 or 10) and how I totally got outs. I don’t know if this actually did anything but I sat there with a Macabre I drew and waited for him to try and win with wonder. He got progenitus on board then 2 turns later didn’t pay for peace keeper. I got a pretty big erection from that needless to say. So he goes 4 vines in yard and wonder and tries to go nuts. I macabre wonder and peacekeeper and proceed to try and triple overrun with ezuri and regen to which he swords my ezuri and then I win the following turn so hard. After that game he said he had a second peacekeeper but didn’t have the white mana to cast it due to the swords.

Game3:
He gets stuck on 2 lands and a hierarch and I landed a survival on turn 3 with a turn 2 priest and ranger. He has turn 3 survival. His turn 4 he survivals for hierarch and to my delight passes with no peacekeeper. I untap survival for my second ranger + anger and drop the first angry () emrakul of the day on turn 4. Feels good man.
1-0 (2-1)

Round 2: BGW Rock

Game 1: I see basic swamp and worry about combo which he follows up with a bayou and a top. After a few hymn to tourachs I establish a survival and just drop mass dudes.

SB: +4 K Grip +1 Emrakul -4 Natural Order -1 Progenitus. (Note: I felt that with the hand destruction and likely e plague coming I couldn’t get there with order. Emrakul wasn’t a great choice but was better than progenitus since orders were coming out and he can’t be perished if by some miracle I get him out there.

Game 2/3: These games where the same me with 2-3 early dudes e plague then by the time that got k gripped I was only able to drop 1 guy a turn which got swords or vindicated and got beat down by a 8/8 knight of the reliquary and 4/5 goyf.
1-1 (3-3)

Round 3: GW U? Vengevine

Game 1: This was a textbook turn 5 for elves. Turn 1 mana elf, Turn 2 Archdruid, turn 3 Perfect, Turn 4 Archdruid, Mana elf, Turn 5 We have forestwalk.

Standard Vines board (+2 Macabre, +1 Emrakul, + 4 Krosan Grip.

Game 2: I honestly don’t recall I think I k gripped his survival and out aggro’d him.
2-1 (5-3)

Round 4: Survival Elves semi Mirror

My opponent ran the G/W list without natural order and with mirror entity/sylvan messenger.
Game 1: This was a silly match and the mirror for this deck is super fun as you can have 6-7 guys on board and if I establish a priest with or without haste my hand is dropped too its nuts. He goes turn 1 Llanowar elf. I am like…k and go ranger he goes ranger pass. I follow up with priest which he drops 2-3 guys and I cast 2 guys and natural order into ezuri which you can see where this went .

Sideboard: -1 Progenitus +1 Emrakul (The reasoning here is you are going to order for ezuri he’s insane and with priest emrakul is a easy to cast flying machine.

Game 2: This starts out similar to game one but he gets the turn 2 priest which is bad so I establish turn 2 survival instead of the archdruid to stop his mana acceleration. I get my turn 3 priest and pass turn 4 as I am just going to activate survival and want to see what he plays. He casts some guys and swings in for 12-13 and I immediately take it going to 7. I show Alex Bertoncini who’s sitting next to me and watching, my hand and he’s like “that’s nuts, does priest tap for every elf in play?” Yup. “That’s insane” So I end step double survival for 2 rangers ask my opponent to cut me to a taiga it will be nuts. He cuts and I draw a wooded foothills! Drop the rangers and cast Angry () Emrakul number 2 ftw.
After the game he showed me his tech of Unyaro Bees for peacekeeper which I thought was sweet.

3-1 (7-3)

Round 5: Evan with R/U Grindstone.

Game 1: He hits a pretty nuts draw with a turn 1 grindstone and a turn 2 painter’s servant. He thinks I main board Emrakul and waits to activate till turn 4 for some reason after he turn 3 fow my survival. I see no need to show him my Progenitus and scoop it up.

Sideboard +4 K grip +1 Emrakul

Game 2: he gets the same start, turn 1 Grindstone, turn 2 painters servant. I turn 2 k grip the servant. He drops another turn 3. I Krosan grip during my upkeep to show how cool I was having 2 to start and draw a 3rd Krosan grip for the turn! He played imperial painter and then another k gripped servant which the game went my way after that.

Game 3: My feelings of being a big man were shot as I drew my Emrakul on my second turn. Sad days. I had the mana to cast him on turn 4 or 5 but he pithing needled my 2 rangers which super sucked and then fow’d my survival that was going to get zealot and still cast Emrakul and I got grinded out shortly after.

3-2 (8-5)

Round 6: Parcher with Enchantress:

Game 1: He does his enchantress thing and ends up with sterling grove, solitary confinement and 3 enchantress effects by turn 5. I only have zealot mb so I scoop it up.

Sideboard: -4 Natural Order, -1 Progenitus +4 Krosan Grip +1 Emrakul (Annihilator > Solitary Confinement)

Game 2: I get some fast guys, he gets a semi clunky start off his mull to 6 and I Krosan griped his elephant grass ftw.

Game 3: I established early mana elves he o ringed my turn 2 archdruid and played some enchantments and I resolved survival turn 3. On turn 5 I pass and he casts like 3 enchantments including the angel maker for each enchantment you play, tapping out and passing. I go eot k grip archdruid. Survival for ranger untap return squee cast ranger create exactly 16 mana and survival squee for Angry () Emrakul #3.

4-2 (10-6)

Round 7: Mark (Morbid-) with GW Vengevine:
We had talked earlier since he was the teammate of the other survival elf player and we knew what we were playing. Having tested the matchup he knew it wasn’t a favorable one for him. This round was certainly a sigh of relief since I was either going to win and play for duals or lose and hope to probably win more zendikar fetches that I have the play set of.

Game 1: This was a turn 4 kill with a pretty nuts hand. Triple lord with one of them champion and a turn 2 priest
.
Sideboard: +4 Krosan Grip +2 Macabre +1 Emrakul

Game 2: Went just as smoothly as game one I don’t think I even saw a sb card just out aggro’d him again.
5-2 (12-6)(3-0 Against vengevine)

Round 8: Harry (Hungrylikealion): Zoo

This round was sketchy for me as I knew what he was playing and zoo isn’t exactly the easiest matchup for me. Its not awful but not great maybe 60/40 his favor.
Game 1: I resolve the turn 3 on the draw progenitus that gets there while racing goyf and nacatl. He had played a turn 3 sylvan library but when he looked at the top 3 on turn 4 he said what every progenitus player wants to hear..”Fuck!” I don’t know what he saw on top but he said it was close which doesn’t surprise me.

Sideboard: +4 Chalice of the void - 2 or 3 one mana drops and a fauna shaman I think

Game 2: He got the turn one lavamancer which controlled the game and my turn 3 chalice at one didn’t do much but get pridemaged.

Game 3: I got the absolute nut draw ever for this matchup and obviously got there. Turn 1 Fyndhorn, Turn 2 Chalice at One Turn 3: Natural Order. Harry got nacatl then jitte but that only bought him a turn and he showed me his hand of 6, 1cc card namely burn and path to exiles. Absurd.

6-2 (14-7)

I ended up 13th and won a set of bayou. I wasn’t too surprised with how the deck ran since its all I have played the last 2 years and I went 5-2 last event with the same list. I plan to certainly add something to take on peacekeeper as I got lucky but also played to my outs which everyone should do in those situations. I would also like to note that within the last 2 events I have played against vengevine survival 5 times and I am 5-0.

Props:
Eli for hosting this awesome event
My friend kyle morin for continuously lending me 3 taigas, 4 chalices and 4 traps to play the deck, maybe someday I’ll pick them up.
Emrakul for being super dirty and apparently rather easy to hardcast.

Slops:
People who play peacekeeper
People who play perish/ still run eplague
The Guy who got 12th and picked taigas before me :frown:

Yeah it's just like the NFL. When there's a pick you need, you have to trade up

You didn't seem to use Fauna Shaman at all.
Is it worth the slots?

Yeah I used him a few times but couldn't remember when, but hes a 2/2 for 2 body that converts llanowars to lords thats all i expect out of that slot and its been very good for that.

Congratulations on your finish!

The Elvish Champion was a blowout in game one (like the rest of the match for me sadly...), our team must have had a hiccup in testing, because in my opinion that guy's a lot more relevant than Islandwalk/Lord of Atlantis right now. He'll definitely be in the next iteration of our list.

Just out of curiosity, did you ever test the white package with Mirror Entity / Wirewood Symbiote?

Anyhow, great to play you, hopefully I'll put up a better fight next time.

Thank you sir.

I have tested the white list, it was the original list that Colin (Di) made and the one I played to a top 8 its second event ever. Its a good build but can get kinda jammed up with disruption and due to the second color can get tangled up with wasteland. The messengers and symbiotes are nuts together but aren't too hot with heavy disruption/top deck mode. At four mana messenger only nets you an additional creature on average (2 new creatures - messenger) most of the time and is not as good as order since you should win in two turns and with messenger you will get two more guys and have to hope. Symbiote again is a great card but fits into the tarmogoyf, vengevine problem its just not an elf and on those draws where you dont get a messenger and are trying to quickly beatdown he's just a 1/1 for 1.
