Stasis was out of my deck, and always was hanging in my large collector album.

I started to play Winter Orb some time ago. Pretty nice if i have some artifacts which produce mana, or lands which produce more than 1 mana, or if I can bounce lands for free with Gush.

Then I found possibilities of Vedalken Mastermind and other bouncers with Winter orb. Just bounce the orb to get your lands untapped. Works same with Stasis.

Except situations when I can skip my upkeep (like with Chronatog) and other blue bouncers is there any other way how to fix playing of the Stasis?

Play with 4 Time Vaults, 4 Burning Wish, 3 Flame Fusilades (+1 on SB) and go back in time to 2005.

Splash green and pack Noble Hierarch + Quirion Ranger to break it asimmetrically.

to Pastorofmuppets:
Yeah, I know what that card can do... However local meta requires such card (not legacy but Highlander. There is no legacy in our city).

to Fuzzy:
Check gatherer for Masters Edition IV and Stasis ;)

Quite strange while ME 4 spoilers contain 5 cards at most...

Highlander stasis? Eech.
Undiscovered Paradise

Undiscovered Paradise doesn't return to your hand because it bounces during your untap step, which is skipped due to Stasis

Back in the days when we played Stasis in Standard, we used Tradewind Rider (ofcourse I'm talking 1997 here).

You can always play Forsaken City to pay for Stasis and bore people to death...

It's kind of rough to rely on Stasis anymore especially since the creation of Krosan Grip makes keeping it out extremely hard now. Why you would want to play it in Highlander is beyond me, but here you go.

Jace 1.0 or 2.0 + Forsaken City
Garruck Wildspeaker
Rescue
Boomerang and it's ten million versions
Quirion Ranger
Nature's Chosen on a White creature or mana critter. (works well on Tempest Drake)
Instill Energy + BOP or some such
Eon Hub
Sands of Time (for the ultimate in confusing shit)

Enjoy

i quote dahcmai.
Earlier this year i was toying with stasis and all i can say is that quirion+ rescue+forsaken+ garruk+ howling mine is what you should play basically, along with Fow and arcane denial for disruption.

I also like Foil as a free counter. Also, in Planar Chaos, a blue shifted version of Kismet was printed. If you want to keep it mono blue, play the shifted Kismet, Stasis and Chronotog.

Well since Gush is banned and planning on bouncing Stasis every turn is actually a pretty bad plan in practice...

The only way to effectively play Stasis is to play CYOS (Choose your own Standard) and pick 5th + a set with a Howling Mine effect + something to abuse Stasis. I recommend Visions block for Anvil of Bogarden and Masques for Daze, Ensnare, Thwart. Forget about it in Legacy.

Ad Krosan grip:

I am aware of existence of this card. Quite autoinclude for any deck which play green with Naturalize, or in white with Return to Dust. However common opponent is red, or white with Aggro strategy (goblins, soldiers, red damage spells).

Undiscovered Paradise which leads to Forsaken city[-cards] - good idea. I was thinking of bouncing a land however it was quite limited. I was thinking about lands as [cards]Oboro, Palace in the Clouds, which of course cannot be used.

Garruk Wildspeaker - Also Tezzeret the Seeker with any single artifact which produce blue

Frozen Aether - seems promising.

Also why in Highlander

Imagine playgroup which is mostly playing Type 2 and has cards since Eventide. Nothing older. Each of them is playing deck able to kill with 2 lands, and drawing more than 1 land in 4 turns is just a waste of draw because they will have empty hand on turn 6.

Those decks work, because they are pretty fast, but are extremely harmful against such effects. When i play Winter orb opponent concedes and says "you was lucky that you draw that specific card, else my deck will kill you". He says even when it was certain that I was searching for the card with any possible tutor. However words like these are useless since i play also Overburden, Rhystic study

A single card causes opponent to concede, while I can repeat my tactic in every game... This has nothing to do with luck.

I want to make metagame better as it is now, and punish decks like these.

I have found that the most effective way to play with Stasis is to remove it from your deck prior to engaging the opponent.

I used to have a mono-U control that boarded into Stasis game 2. People never see that one coming. It's just too bad the things people would board against mono-U are now good against old fashioned stasis anyway.

Current results:

a) I am aware of weaknesses, nonetheless people are whinning when I play that.
b) At game where stasis entered play and lasted for single turn was enough to win the game (in combo with fully leveledLighthouse chronologist).
