Well and because so much thought was obviously put into the decks construction. I mean it is a work of art if you look at it, I will make an exception. I just don't want that to open the door for TaRmOgOyF/LaVaMaNcEr.dec or Jund-noblack.dec or worse yet, "I found a way to slip Jace 2.0 in there because I'm using City of Brass to generate mana....Gotta have rules folks. Try to stick to them.

If possible, could you please fix the typo in my name? Also, I think you pasted the wrong decklist from Dachmai, as the current one has 60 cards while his second list has 40.

Yeah, I'd say to hell with the rules at this point. Only a few of us made decklists so I say let them all fly. Is this going to be a problem? If so, sorry for that Lorgalis but I guess the rules lawyer in me is on vacation.

I only made two since I wasn't sure on the number of cards and there was a prize for no creatures decklist so I made one. too bad you didn't use that one here, it's the better of the two anyway.

I didn't know we could straight up break the rules and use banned stuff. I had much better ideas if we could do that.

It's like one of those carny horse races. I wish I could squirt water into the nose of a clown to make mine go higher. I should have known everything would devolve into chaos. Why make rules if nobody wants to follow them. Actually, the strongest decks are not the ones that broke the rules (cept maybe 4 Channel deck). I like all the decks and again, it would have been awesome to actually play these. Some of them are all serious about winning and others are like really bad combo decks. Then there are the theme decks that only win the "most ridiculous card" award. All in all, I'm proud of everyone that put forth the effort. It shows heart and I commend you all for throwing your hat in the ring.

Glad to see many are rooting my cyan horse! I love all the decks without banned cards. When I read the contest, two cards occured in my mind, the Lumberjacker and Stormbind. I chose to optimise the former idea and it is extremely pleasant to see someone was building around the latter one. In terms of competitiveness, I believe R/G sligh is unmatched. I am kind of astonished that not a single deck includes Ankh of Mishra .

You know, I may be able to get prizes to everyone. The contests didn't exactly pan out to what I originally imagined them to be so that is bad in that we didn't have more participation and good in that more participants get prizes. I know it may seem that I kept going back and forth on what the rules where and what the prizes would be but I was just trying to respond to what you all wanted to do and to be honest, I get only a little feedback.

Last year, I was thinking it would be great for everyone to do at least one alter; anything from a really nice professionally done alter to a sharpie with a fart cloud and some comic dialogue. I was surprised that so few of the pimp and alter thread people joined this year. They must hate Chrsitmas. As for the decklists, If we had 20-30 submissions, it would have changed how we awarded prizes as there would have been more than one creatureless decklist, more than one truly unique decklist (although I think we hit this one pretty hard) and more than one combo deck.

Anyhow, food for thought for whoever coordinates next year. I'm for sure just going to participate next year and not try to run the show. It's alot of work and it really ends up being a one man show though I have to send out props to three individuals. You know who you are and so I won't mention names. One donated the Japanese Tarmogoyf, one sent me some money to help with shipping costs and the other helped with the decklist poll. Thanks everyone else for participating.

Whoops, nope. I just mixed your names up. I'll go back and correct it.

Also, dahcmai mentioned in an earlier post that he was interested in the Russian Wood Elves so I'll assume he wants the elf package which leave the rando package to Brad Herbig. I wish I could send prizes out to everyone who participated (including people whose decks were not in the poll) but I'm way too deep in this already with sending out 25+ packages (half being international). It does feel really good though.

Yup, I'm all over that wood elf. I have no idea why I like that card so much. Holdover from playing Survival during the exodus era I guess.


On a side note, thanks a ton for organizing this. You've practically been haning on these threads each day to keep up. Next year, you should let me help come up with some of the contests and I'll donate some oddities to the prize mix. I'm pretty creative for deck building and keep a ton of old cards people forget about.

I'll have to give you the rules for the Worst deck contest. We had a whole write up on it for a tournament here once for it. Truly hilarious stuff. Maybe we could even start early enough to have some of the MWS people play them out.

I'm actually pretty satisfied with how this turned out this year. I'm definitely not doing it next year though as I'd rather just get my random SS matchup and send everything to that one person. Hopefully someone stumbles into it like I did this time. Now I'm just hoping everyone gets their packages before Christmas and that the packages include something they want.
