Legacy Tournaments in Los Angeles at Melrose Music & Comics!
We at Melrose Music & Comics are big fans of the Legacy format. In fact, our first-ever sanctioned event was a Legacy tournament! To that end, we've scheduled 3 Legacy tournaments on Saturdays, after sunset, to be held in the next month or so. Depending on the turnout, we'll decide whether to continue to schedule Legacy events, so your support and attendance are very much appreciated.

When:
1) Saturday, December 18th 2010. Registration starts at 5PM; event starts at 6PM. Entry fee is $5.
EDIT: Due to multiple requests and calls that the 12/18 tournament start later, we will be holding SECOND Legacy to start at 8PM. Registration is $5 and starts at 7PM, and the prizes and all other details remain the same. We have a group of gentlemen arriving who, alone, should make the 8 player minimum. We'll also be extending our hours to at least midnight.
2) Saturday, January 8th 2011. Registration starts at 5PM; event starts at 6PM. Entry fee is $5.
3) Saturday, January 22nd 2011. This is a Two-Headed Giant Event. Registration starts at 5PM; event starts at 6PM. Entry fee is $5 per person; $10 per team.
Each event is 4 rounds. We play Swiss. (Every player plays every round.)
Details:
Decklists are not required, although we will be instituting random checks to make sure our players are adhering to all Legacy deckbuilding rules. An amount equal to the combined entry fees is given as store credit for prizes. (i.e. 20 people attend the event, which means entry fees total $100. A possible prize payout for this tournament could be $50 store credit for first place, $25 for second, $15 for third, and $10 for fourth. $50+25+15+10=$100, the amount of money we received in entry fees. This is how prizes for all our tournaments work.) We have capacity for 24; 36 if we break out the reserve tables.
Free play is ALWAYS welcome!

Parking is street only. Melrose Ave is metered, and there are various areas close by where one can park for as long as one wants.
One last thing... While this is not strictly a Legacy related announcement, I think it pertains to everyone who plays Magic. To show appreciation for our customers, on Christmas Day 2010 (December 25th, 2010), we will be holding a free booster draft! The store will give three standard-legal packs for free to anyone who comes in to at play our event, which start at 2PM. (Registration starts at noon.) There is a hard cap of 16 people getting boosters for free at this event; every person past 16 will need to pay a specially discounted $6 entry fee. There are no prizes. (You are getting 3 boosters for free, after all.)
