I would like to discuss this deck. On the surface, it's a Vindicate control deck with a combo finish. I wanted to include draw, tutors and control elements. Counterbalance could be a problem if it lands. Originally, I had 4 Lightning Bolts in there to help address early turns vs fast control decks. There are a few utility cards that may seem like dead weight. Basically, I've tried versions with even more redundancy but didn't really feel like they were as resilient. This is still at the redundant end of the spectrum, but I think it's a more focused place to start.

critters:
2 Indigo Faerie
4 Painter's Servant
3 Trinket Mage

spells:
2 Active Volcano
4 Brainstorm
2 Cunning Wish
4 Force of Will
4 Pyroblast
4 Red Elemental Blast
2 Transmute Artifact

artifacts:
4 Chrome Mox
2 Distorting Lens
1 Engineered Explosives
1 Grindstone
1 Isochron Scepter
1 Relic of Progenitus

lands:
1 Academy Ruins
3 Island
5 Mountain
4 Scalding Tarn
1 Steam Vents
1 Tolaria West
3 Volcanic Island

walker:
1 Tezzeret the Seeker

Sideboard:
1 Wipe Away
1 Echoing Truth
3 Stifle
1 Phyrexian Dreadnought
1 Pithing Needle
utility/hate
Submerge?
Hibernation?
Mindbreak Trap?

I will add card tags after lunch. Also, this would be much more formal if it were a real deck. I think it has potential and I know similar ideas have already been thrown around. Just opening it up to discuss this build and these card choices.

A friend of mine and I cooked up a Painter's Servant/Pyroblast deck...and it included Guttural Response and Vexing Shusher. One of the best targets for Isochron Scepter in that deck was actually Manamorphose...you get repeatable card draw for free, and it fuels your Pyroblasts/Red Elemental Blasts.

Interested to see more explanation on how you want the deck to run/function.

Well, I think with any Legacy game, you generally need to establish your gameplan early on or stall into it. You can do this by playing out threats or by shutting down a fast break by your opponent. I think this deck can say no with FoW/blast vs blue decks or it can try to accelerate into the vindicate enabler (Lens, Painter or Indigo faerie). If it does so, it should be in position to establish either a mana denial plan or a counter plan. This is where I feel it starts to run out of gas. I'm having trouble casting blasts every turn even when I have 12 in the main.

If you're able to establish some control of the battlefield, you can then win with either Grindstone or Tezzeret.

Semi-transformational sideboard, blah, blah, blah. I'm gonna test more and see how it stands vs. some consistent DtBs.
