Hello people,

So ya, who remembers Astral Slide back when it was legal in extended?

Anyways, I wanna make a Peasant version of the deck for Kitchen Magic purposes, as well for an upcoming weekly Peasant event.

Here are the core of the decks:

Astral Slide - the core of the deck. This deck will be built around this Enchantment that once dominated Standard and was a major Extended contender.

Tranquil Thicket, Secluded Steppe, the rest of the cycling lands - Cycling lands were the main enablers for Astral Slide in a Slide deck.

Tilling Treefolk - In a format where Life from the Loam is banned, this is the next best thing. Sliding this in and out of the game allows you get your Cycling Lands back.

Anyways, here is my projected decklist:

16 Creatures:
4 Auramancer
4 Tilling Treefolk
3 Aven Riftwatcher
3 Qasali Pridemage
2 Krosan Tusker

17 Spells:
4 Sigil of the Nayan Gods
3 Astral Slide
3 Lightning Bolt
3 Renewed Faith
2 Edge of Autumn
2 Lightning Rift

27 Lands:
7 Forest
5 Plains
3 Mountain
4 Secluded Steppe
4 Terramorphic Expanse
4 Tranquil Thicket

I am using Lightning Rift to abuse Cycling to control creatures and as a secondary win condition.

This list is just a trial list so I am looking for advice, especially from players who used to play Astral Slide back in its days.

ANOTHER Slide deck!!! This deck just won't die! I love it!!
(too many !!!!)
Playing this deck in the Peasant format definitely opens up a lot of unexplored territory. Tilling Treefolk is a very cool replacement for Life from the Loam .
The only cards that pop into mind for consideration would be Slice and Dice and Spark Spray . And of course if you can fit in Eternal Witness , that makes for even more fun.
I just wanted to help this thread out, really.
Slide will never die!!!

Wall of Omens / Wall of Blossoms is tech.

Wall of Omens/Blossom would be an awesome tech but in Peasant, you are only allowed 5 uncommons.

Eternal Witness would also be good but most of the spells/cyclers I run are retrievable by Tilling Treefolk and Auramancer. I didn't think I would need her.

I might switch the deck to two colors, ridding of red. I just realized that I am lacking removal outside Lightning Bolt. I might run Journey to Nowhere/Oblivion Ring (retrievable by Auramancer). I might even run Rune of Protections as a singleton (since they can be cycled). Possibly Aura Gnarlid as a finisher. I also like the prospect of Acidic Slime.

here is my version of the same deck, it usualy wins most multiplayer games it plays in-

Land-

4x Sunpetal Grove
3x Selesnya Sanctuary
1x Blasted Landscape
4x Tranquil Thicket
4x Secluded Steppe
5x Plains
4x Forest

Artifact-
2x Duplicant

Gold/Hybrid-
2x Sterling Grove
2x Loxodon Hierarch
1x Rise of the Hobgoblins (win condition that sterling can fetch)

Green-
4x Krosan Tusker
4x Llanowar Elf/Birds of paradise
4x Eternal Witness (get something back every turn)
2x Wall of Blossoms

White-
2x Decree of justice
2x Sunblast Angel (amazing to blink)
2x Exalted Angel
2x Akroma's Vengeance
3x Radiant's Judgment
4x Astral Slide

I never heard of that treefolk before who gets back lands, so that's a new addition for me. I also have used Krosan Cloudscraper before to some success. The deck as I built it is very mana hungry. the bouncelands commonly bounce back cycling lands you play early in the game. I have also previouly used knight of the reliquary in the deck, but he is currently in a G/W landfall build.

For peasant I would definitely consider both bouncelands and maxing out the tuskers
