What will the impact of battle cry be on the format?

With a plethora creatures becoming available that are marginally undercosted, will aggro and midrange decks turn into powerhouses? is this good?

Discuss.

Battle Cry seems like it could go on a Goblin.

Seems like Firespout would wreck you extra hard if you're playing a bunch of Battle Cryers to pump each other.

Hey guys, wasn't Blade of the Sixth Pride supposed to be "over the curve" a few years ago?

Not really. 2/3 is a better creature, 3/1 was only better against control decks. Though it would have seen more play if Sulfur Elemental didn't just wreck it for one more mana. Just like that new 3/2 trample guy, 2 toughness isn't good enough for the 1 power to be worth it, these creatures still die to 1/2-drop creatures. They need the extra toughness so they can keep attacking for the extra power to be relevant.

EDIT: How do you do the autocarding?

EDIT: Thanks.

Given enough creatures with a low enough power-to-cmc ratio this effect is a lot like Goblin Piledriver's, only spread out amongst your entire team. Three 1/1 Goblins and a Piledriver attack for 8; three 1/1s and Accorder Paladin collectively hit for 9. Multiples of either one obviously make shit hectic.

Given the thus-far spoiled guys there's a 0/1 for 1, a 3/1 for 1W and a 3/3 that makes guys for 2WW. It's way early to speculate on the performance of the mechanic, but even getting multiples in this situation still makes it tough to really start applying pressure to the opposing player until like turn 5.

This is weird since it's like, the polar opposite of Exalted. And Exalted's got going for it the fact that it is an excellent 'suppport' tactic and generally a lousy primary tactic. Battle cry definitely requires the all-in face punch for maximum effect, and for that you have to wait a turn.

As a sidenote it's really sort of bumming me out that every creature type has to play the "we're not Slivers, but we are" game in order to make the journey to playable. Not that this is necessarily playable. I mean, look at Accorder Paladin; is he going in a Zoo deck? What does one cut for this guy?

I play a zoo deck with a much more Old Skool mentality, meaning I'm playing apes (Kird Ape/Loam Lion). Something like this at the 2 mana slot turns apes into Wild Nacatls, and at a faster pace than something like Glorious Anthem/Gaea's Anthem (especially considering it has legs of it's own...) I see this as functionally replacing 'tribal' in the rules text of Goyf...Pridemage made running Tarfire obsolete, but now we have yet ANOTHER way around the bush for making zoo's threat's bigger.

I like it...but I don't want to overcommit slots to it (and see Firespout wrecking my day) or being too dependant on the extra +1 power to get there.

I see white weenie doing a little 'woo hoo' with any white-flavored efficient 1-2 drops with battle cry, mostly because so many of their threats have first strike.

EDIT: How do you do the autocarding?

Use the command {cards}name of card{/cards} only with square brackets ( [ , ] ) in place of the curly ones.

If they print a good tribal battle cry creature it probably (might) see play, but otherwise I'm not convinced that the mechanic will do much for Legacy, since chances are most cards will be pretty bad by themselves, which is always a huge detriment when considering deck construction in my opinion.

Unless you're building tribal, like with Fish, Gobbos, and Elves. But those decks are pretty much figured out anyways, lol.

The best way to abuse the mechanic is to get tons of creatures on the table fast. Either via Affinity, Kobolds (lol) or token generators like Empty the Warrens.

Signal Pest is interesting for Affinity due to its evasion, though.

Signal Pest is definetly interesting for affinity, especially since it pushes it to 12 lords with a nice mana curve progression to boot (the 1 extra power when attacking really is all that matters in such a hyper aggressive deck as Affinity). Not sure if 8 0-power creatures is viable in an aggressive however, even with Plating and Lord support.
