I'm sad that I'll be unlikely to make it due to school. I really hope it's a good event though.

Well, with GP Santiago happening the very same weekend, it'll be more likely than before... I guess.

Julian23, I haven't had a Moat, but there were 21 of us, and I believe there would be even more this year.

Looking forward to seeing the Dutchies again and not playmistaking myself out of Day 2.

After missing prices in Madrid after a great winning streak ( just started legacy though and sadly 3 losses in the last 3 rounds), I'm definately aiming high.

Would be nice to see some sourcers around there. Especially for all those that fail on day 1, the nightlife is great, at least that's what I'll do when I fail big time.

Someday we should all have The Source T-Shirts with our username. Just like the Channel Fireball or SCG guys do. Now THAT would be impressive, especially when WotC coverage recognizes.

+1. Let's do that. Everyone stamps its own and maybe someone can put up a standard template so we have the same design.

I'm in :) If someone comes up with a cool design (and not some stupid ass logo printed on a white shirt), I'll wear my MTG: The Source shirt with ATWA on the back. Won't make the same impact as growing trucker mustaches, but could be a pretty cool feat to pull off. I won't be designing though, I suck at artistic creativity.

Good to see they do it in October. Now the ongoing debate of renting an hotel room for the night. Driving 1.5 hours back home isn't that bad, but would suck in the unlikely event I might actually make day 2 (my 4-2-1 Madrid record wasn't too shabby though). As most of the people I normally play with are casual gamers (hence my lack of good playtesters and thus results), I don't think I can actually trick some guys to drive along to what could become another record breaking tournament.

Oh well, 3/4 year to go.

EDIT: screw that idea, my back is actually going to look like:

And if I make any reports after the first day, I'll use a marker to change the post number on the shirt. Wouldn't want to be inaccurate, now would we?

I'm going to set heaven and hell in motion to get as many people from our team to the Netherlands. It's about time a Legacy GP gets taken down by a non-professional player.

Dunno what I'll be rockin', though, many things can happen until then...

The most likely locations would be either Amsterdam RAI (the Expo) and the venue (http://www.theaterfabriekamsterdam.nl/home) where the PT was being held a couple of months ago. My preference goes out to the last one, but 2500+ people might actually be a bit too crowded there.

Too bad though we still don't know which it will be, seeing as the two venues I spoke of are on pretty much opposite sides of the town.

Anyone else been speculating about what the SCG open is going to do to the format by the time Oct. 22 rolls around? Nine months is plenty of time for a combo deck to warp a format.

In other news, there is a decent print shop 5 minutes away from home, and the whole T-Shirt thing is appealing. TheSource in plain text is probably the best design, unless someone steps up to create a graphic to print.

What exactly constitutes a good design, PJ? Just curious. It'd be fun to play around in photoshop to see what one comes up with.

practical joke
01-18-2011, 06:55 AM
A good design is a non-ugly one (personal taste),
The TheSource part has to be easily noticed between a shitload of ppl.
A place for the forumname would be nice, so Sources know who's who.

The rest is up to creativity I guess.

I don't think it's necessary to get a big fancy SDT-art or a Survival artwork right in front of it.
Just plain simple, maybe someone with some arty insight could do something nice with the letters or whatever.

jandax
01-18-2011, 07:53 AM
Perhaps given the thsirts are in the same color, TheSource could be a in a contrasting loud color decending from the neck to the naval. Sort of like:

T
h
e
S
o
u
r
c
e

That way, when in a crowd of people, you can notice folks with an X color tshirt with the distinct TheSource on the front. I don't think it on the back of the shirt will be necessary, as everyone probably has a jacket or backpack on when not at the table. Or we just dress in a loud neon colored shirt like Robert vd Meedevort

I really think you need to print the T-Shirt on a disgustingly loud color like Charteuse, Hot Pink, or Safety Orange. Maybe a little less strong would be red and do something like this: http://www.worldart.com.au/images/bullitt-steve-mcqueen-art1.gif

except for Tarmogoyf(JaceTM, or whoever) instead of Steve Mc Queen. The Warhol effect is probably in photoshop and probably wouldn't be too difficult for someone who is handy with the program to do it like that.

If we need card images, I vote Force of Will or Brainstorm instead of Goyf.

My adorable girlfriend is working on a t-shirt design for us. She's fairly good at Photoshop/ digital arts (whereas I'm an ignorant at this) and I hope she'll come up with something interesting. :D

What do you think? I told her to keep it as simple as possible so we can have it done easily and cheaply. More complicated designs implies a much higher printing price. I like it. I like the soccer jersey- like name on the back, too. : )
Maybe some of you could find it a bit loud, but I like loud graphics on t-shirts.

I like it, but I would not put copyrighted images on shirts.
Especially DiTerlizzi, he's super famous now thanks to the Spiderwick Chronicles and I've heard he's the type who wouldn't be happy about it.

I'm not telling anyone what to do, but I'd say just be careful... I also want one bad xD...

It's just a design, I did'nt make any print yet. As for the Join date, Atwa suggested it, and I like it. Also profile status should be here, you're right.
Edit: little ot: just wondering how do you change your status.

Ok. I see your point and I know I don't want to get into copyright infringement maelstrom. Maybe we can cut Brainstorm image, or kindly ask Mr DiTerlizzi if we could use its work here.

Holy awesome shirtfulness! Many props to your gf kiblast, she kicked ass on the first shot, those shirts are amazing looking. One question, is it feasible, in terms of printing, to have each one be unique in terms of all the text on the back? Regardless, if this goes through, sign me up.

Anyone know any Magic artists looking for massive exposure in return for use of one of their (iconic Legacy) card images? Any suggestions on iconic Legacy images? Or maybe a contest for the artistically inclined to submit an image?

jandax
01-18-2011, 07:56 PM
Wonderful job by your gf, kiblast.

Wouldn't crediting the artist give way to the whole copyright issue? DiTerlizzi could easily be added somewhere in the image

Also, would it really be necessary to put account info on the back? Although October can be cold, so the front of the shirt should be the focus. The font is absolutely spot on, and as mentioned that alone could be enough for a recognizable t-shirt. Also, since black is the color of just about every other website's tshirt, white being SCG's color and green blackborder, shouldn't Sourcers go with the dark blue in the forum's background, with a contrasting shade for the script? Not all print shops will have exactly the color one needs, so some kind of neutral and popular dark blue will do.

Thoughts? I'm ready to just get one with kiblast's gf's design

I'm a huge fan of the design as well. I'm not sure join date is entirely necessary, but Username would certainly be fun, and I like the "is that even a real deck" element.

NOt sure I'll be able to make Amsterdam GP, but I'm interested in a shirt regardless (though I might end up as study abroad which would make it easier)

Going to Amsterdam will depend a lot on my job at that given moment in time, but I'd be interested in a shirt nonetheless.

This seems pretty spot on. Just Dark Blue, like "marine", and then The Source, in a huge, loud, bold font in a constrating blue, like the website. Maybe a lil' space for username on the heart, and for admins/modo/staff their status on-site as well. dunno tho' ^^'

scrumdogg
01-18-2011, 08:44 PM
Dark blue seems like a very nice color choice and maybe making the join date (and/or status quote) optional? Although I suspect many would be pumped to have both those displayed (I am).

practical joke
01-19-2011, 02:53 AM
I think join date and status quote can be optional..

@ kiblast is it possible to get a view of the shirt in dark blue-ish as well?

I know for sure that a print shop, several miles away, can easily make prints with different name tags and such.
They just need a good picture/file to print on it.

They've printed aprox 25 last year for the first-year students with a home-made design on it (some random friend made it) and different names/sizes.

I think that any print-shop that's doing shirts is able to print them if they have a good file/picture.

Atwa
01-19-2011, 04:58 AM
About that art, I guess I'll just send the artist an e-mail.

That way we'll know for certain if we can legally use the Brainstorm art. I think it might be the perfect art to put on a shirt.

If we can't use it, we still have some 9 months to figure out another piece of art. I'll get back to you about any reply I might get from the artist.

Skeggi
01-19-2011, 04:59 AM
I'd just go for a The Source logo on the chest, nickname on the back with your custom status and image.

Besides, as long as you're making the t-shirt for yourself I don't think you're violating any copyright laws. Not a Dutch one anyway, you can copy here whatever you want, as long as you don't sell it or anything.

True thing, we aren't that difficult :)

I checked the artist's website and you can't send him e-mails. You can write him and incluse a stamped envelop though. If anyone is interested to contact him on this matter (because I am lazy and am not writing a letter and send it over the big pool for a question like this), here is his contact info:

Tony DiTerlizzi
P. O. Box 442
Amherst, Massachusetts

Maybe a plain shirt with only the logo would be better (at least less hassle), but I really love how that example looked. Anyone in favor of putting the art of Survival on front? :)

practical joke
01-19-2011, 05:42 AM
Actually, it's not completely true. It's not legal to spread the art, what we are doing with the shirts has a fine line, so I doubt anyone would care except for the artist.

Would be nice if someone who's living a bit closer to ask the artist.

Also for the dutchies, I could check up on a few printshops (and the one I've been before for the student shirt) and do an order for those interested by that time (9 months is a long time and we have no finished desing).

jandax
01-19-2011, 05:55 AM
The one down the road from me is 13,50 for a shirt, 5eur for the shirt, 8,50 for the print. As long as we're doing something simplistic like TheSource and maybe a mono chrome graphic and user name or something, then I don't think that print price will change. Especially if we can provide a .png file or whatever they use for the design.

Skeggi
01-19-2011, 06:47 AM
13,50 for front and back or just front or back?

jandax
01-19-2011, 07:01 AM
I don't think it mattered. I got something last week for a friend that was plain text on the front of a shirt. He asked if there was anything to go on the back and I said no.

As for the Dutchies, I wouldn't mind placing the order if I knew others wanted to get in on it. Having one graphic sceme would make the order cheaper than each user having their user name imprinted on it as well, I think but I'm not sure. It litterally took a minute for the print machine to stamp the script on the shirt, so I assume that a quick click of the mouse could insert the next username into the printing process and so on.

Maybe for a group of shirts it'd be less than 13,50 a piece.

Nidd
01-19-2011, 07:04 AM
If we can agree on a design, maybe we can start recording the demand and our Dutchies can get the printing going?

Don't know if I like the Join Date, though... Looks kinda strange.

Skeggi
01-19-2011, 07:06 AM
Nah, join date seems weird. I think custom title would be nice. Like mine is 'Aleksandr's hero.'.

jandax
01-19-2011, 07:06 AM
Yeah, join date is pointless, if not a little vain. Not hating, just choosing to opt on not including it for my own shirt :)

Edit:

I'm already thinking toooo far ahead into this but provided not all of us are there day 2, I can comfortably draft 8 with my Cube so there's something to do on Sunday. A lone table full of Sourcers drafting a Cube...good times.

practical joke
01-19-2011, 07:36 AM
I think the back should be somehow:

<Big fat user name>
Less big custom title, for those who want it

<that's not a real deck>

Besides the great shirt kiblast's gf made so far, I hope we get some more designs as well.
we have 9 frigging months, so don't be hasty with making any shirts. If I got one printed right now, I'd lose it in 2 days (high likely)
