This report will consist of two reports. One from Wednesday night, and one from Thursday night. The list I played was the same for both nights and is as follows:

The List

4 Mutavault
13 Island

4 Merfolk of the Pearl Trident
4 Silvergill Adept
4 Lord of Atlantis
4 Coralhelm Commander
4 Merfolk Sovereign
4 Merrow Reejerey
3 Kira, Great Glass-Spinner

4 Daze
4 Force of Will
4 Aether Vial

1 Umezawa's Jitte
3 Submerge
2 Llawan, Cephalid Empress
3 Tormod's Crypt
2 Chalice of the Void
4 Hydroblast

Wednesday Night at Veteran's Gaming in Warwick, RI

There were twelve people playing there, and I saw 1 guy sleeving Goblins, 1 guy testing Kiln Fiend burn, and heard that another was playing Goblins as well, so I subbed out a Chalice, Crypt, and 2 Pithing Needles for the 4 Hydroblasts. Didn't need them, but better safe than sorry.

Round 1: Mario with U/W Merfolk.

Game 1: After I mull to six, I play a Mutavault and Waste his Tundra. He had only a Cursecatcher and the mutavault swung in for a bit. Near the end, I force his Rejeerey, but he forces back. No matter, I top deck a Lord and it wins for me.

Game 2: Turn 2 he landed a Jitte, and that was all she wrote. I couldn't find my own, nor my Kiras, nor my llawans, and he plowed through me pretty quick.

Game 3: I mull to six again, and like game 1 some Wastelands keep him from doing much of anything. I get a Commander down and up to level 4, while my kira keeps my team safe. A sovereign on two consecutive turns closes the deal.

2-1 games / 1-0 matches

Round 2: Ethan with White Weenie, splashing black for Dark Confidant

Game 1: He lands a turn 1 vial in to a Mother of Runes, then a Kor Skyfisher. I don't do much of anything, except daze the first Stoneforge Mystci he tries to cast, then Force the second he also tries to cast. Finally, he vials in a THIRD Stoneforge, grabbing a Sword of Fire and Ice to take the game.

Game 2: I waste his turn 4 Lotus vale, while also playing a Jitte and two Rejeereys, which cleaned up nicely.

Game 3: I get stuck on 3 lands, which means I wasn't able to equip my Jitte to my guys because of my own Kira. He plays dude after dude after dude. He has 3 Skyfishers, 3 Knight of the White Orchid and some other critters, and they swoop in for match.

Ethan was the eventual winner, going 4-0.
3-3 games / 1-1 rounds

Round 3: Greg with U/W Homebrew

Game 1: I waste 2 lands, holding him at 1 for a few turns, which let me get my 1, 2, and 3 drop merfolk out, before playing another lord for an alpha strike.

Game 2: My fast start get crippled by a Day of Judgment, but I had brought him down far enough that double Mutavaults are enough to close the deal.

Tlaking with him afterwardsd revealed that his deck was trying to cast Djinn of wishes and then Brainstorm an Emrakul, the aeons torn on top to use the djinns ability.

5-3 games / 2-1 matches

Round 4: Bryan with GWB Junk

Game 1: He plays a Tarmogoyf and I play a Commander, but it gets Vindicated before I can get My Kira out. However, my next 2 guys hold him at bay, and Kira swings six times before winning. his third goyf came out just a tad too late, and a Kitchen Finks held him alive for a while.

Game 2: He plays a Dark Confidant and I play 2 Lords, eventually landing a Commander to end the game quickly.

7-3 games / 3-1 matches

Finished second overall, taking a Mox Opal as a a prize.

Thursday Night at Diehard Games in Pawtucket, RI

After winning here last week, and finishing in second the night before, I was crossing my fingers that my luck would not runout on me. I kept the same sideboard as last night, because of the Goblins player I had played last week.

Round 1: Jim with UGR Thresh

Game 1: I Waste his Tropical Island after he leads with Nimble Mongoose. My Vial sticks and pumps out more creatures than he can handle.

Game 2: He lands no guys, but a timely pyroclasm wipes my four blue men away. I force his next goyf, and we both end up in top deck mode. I draw way better, netting a jitte, then a Sovereign to clean up.

2-0 games / 1-0 matches

Round 2: Gabe with Merfolk

Game 1: He mulls and leads with Vial, which I mirror. He however, plays a turn 2 Standstill. I start vialing in some guys and we both do some quick math, seeing who can play Lord of Atlantis first. I can, and do, and we proceed to game 2.

Game 2: He gets some bad hands, and mulls to 5 then leads with Mishra's Factory to Vial. It holds, but he missed the trigger so it did him no good. his bad start didn't help with my turn two Commander, turn 3 Jitte. I force his Threads of Disloyalty, but dont swing in case he vials in his own Commander. He vials in a Lord then swings into my Commander. Realizing his mistake he extends his hand.

4-0 games / 2-0 matches

Round 3: Alan with GWB with Natural Order

Game 1: He plays a Birds of Paradise and I waste his Savanah, but a second Birds comes from the first. And that was the only mana he had for a while. It was however, sufficient for his spot removal. In response to my Kira, he double Path to Exiles my Commander and Lord. Once I had laid some beats on him and made a better army again, he Swords to Plowshares my Kira, Paths the kira, then swords my Coralhelm. Hislands come toolate though, and my guys get there in the end.

Game 2: Some basics on his side of the board along with a Vexing Shusher were a pretty good start. I Submerged his Shusher in response to a fetch, but he had another. He landed a Goyf, and an Engineered Explosives on 1, to hit my Vial and Merfolk. I get double Commander out, to stay his Goyfs, and get a lord or two, and begin to attack. He casts an EE again, this time for two, with two open mana to crack it the same turn and wipe the board. I waste his own waste land, and he forgot to float the colorless mana, leaving him not enough mana to crack it, and no blockers for two flying commanders. That made match.

6-0 games / 3-0 matches

Round 4: Andrew with UGB Thresh

We ID this round since we would still make Top 8, but played out the games for fun. Didn't bother taking notes, but he got me 2 games to none. We also played a sweet multiplayer game with my friend Ian. I used Merfolk, Ian used Dredge, and Andrew used Goblins, didn't get to finish, but it was fun.

6-0 games / 3-0-1 matches

Round 5: James with Hive Mind Show and Tell

We ID this round as well, and like before, play it out, but without sideboards, and I take it 2-0, due to his lack of lands.

6-0 games / 3-0-2 matches

Round 6 (Top 8): Joe with URG Thresh

Game 1: My force gets his force on my turn 1 vial. After that my guys came out, first silvergill, then commander, and once given flying, he quickly makes work of Joe.

Game 2: He forces my turn 1 vial, plays a Volcanic Island I play a waste, and waste it. He passes with out playing a land, and I don't hit a second land for a few turns, but only having to discard down to seven once, pitching a Sovereign. He finally gets a ponder and hits a second land as well right before i get mine. His 5/6 goyf chews my life away pretty quickly, but drawing enough guys to chump ends up me winng by double lord after I force a game ending Firespout

8-0 games / 4-0-2 matches

Round 7 (Top 4): Barret with Dredge

Game 1: I Daze his first Careful study and after that, he didn't do anything, while I played double lord and rejeerey, which one quite quickly.

Game 2: I get an opening hand with double Crypt, Mutavault, Daze, force, and Vial, while he mulls to five, and just passes the turn. I lead with the vial and cyrpt while he tries drawing to 7 to DDD. After 3 dredges, he gets Iona, Shield of Emeria into the yard, and with the Narcomoeba trigger on the stack, I nuke it. I play my second Crypt and contiune to beat with the Mutavault, now joined by a Sovereign. I nuke again, hiting triple Bridge from Below and he scoops.

10-0 games / 5-0-2 matches

Round 8 (Finals) Grant

We split becasue were tired, hungry, and it's midnight, so we just wanted to go.

Props:
Javier from Veteran's Gaming, for putting on a great tournament.
Dave from Diehard Games For putting on another great tournament.
Merfolk of the Pearl Trident for beating like a champ, and pitching wonderfully to Force.
All my opponents, who were all really friendly.

Slops:
Me, for not finding these stroes sooner during my winter break.
Merfolk of the Pearl Trident for not being Cursecatcher, and having too much flavor text, making people think he does something relavent.

Again, just want to say thanks to Javier and Dave for having great tournaments, and I look forward to playing at your stores again!
