Count me in.
What kind of prize support are we looking at for Top Eight if we break 24?

Hollywood,
We'll likely be upping the Tundras into Underground Seas, and the rest of top 8 can expect at least $35 in store credit (Ed has an excellent selection of singles for Standard and Legacy, and of course supplies and packs).
The plateaus would possibly get upgraded too, but it will depend on total turnout. We usually wait until after round 2 to announce final prizes because we've honestly never not upgraded.
Looking forward to seeing you there!

Hollywood nor anyone else will be there considering the Jupiter Event for Power is the same day. There are already people from BALTIMORE that confirmed coming to this.

Yeah. I'll be heading to the Jupiter Event; I didn't know that I would be able to take leave until recently. It might make sense to reschedule the event, if that works for you guys.

I'll definitely be going to this, if only to make use of my free entry from the last tournament. At least I assume it's for this tournament since I haven't received any correspondence from Dave Rockstar despite emailing him. Also, if possible it would be nice if this tournament could be sanctioned as the previous one for a black lotus posted here: http://bit.ly/fMEFix still hasn't gotten sanctioned after quite a long wait, which I think is getting close to two months now.

Zaresiy - this tournament *IS* the free one. what email address did you email, and when? I emailed all of the participants to inform them that this in fact would be the tournament that gives free entry to top 8ers.
Who are you? I'll re-check my email. Unfortunately not knowing your real name on the board makes the prospect of ensuring I've replied to you a bit nebulous.
RE: Sanctioning, this event has a sanction number already and will in fact be sanctioned - the Judge from Christmas did not get a sanction number prior to the event - as I understand it has been submitted, but I will talk to him in concert with the owner to confirm that is the case on saturday.

Munkie,
While your post proved to be mind-blowingly prophetic, I don't understand the animosity. The Jupiter event is nearly five hours away which is a deal-breaker for some of the people in our local community. Why s#it on my tournament just because you're running one concurrently? Jupiter doesn't need any help promoting, and they're known for running excellent and well-attended events. There's no doubt in my mind that some of the more serious Legacy competitors will chose this event over ours, but so what? The goal, at least insofar as I understand it, is to build a community, and comments like that strictly serve to segregate it.

It certainly wouldn't work for us to reschedule, whether it would make sense or otherwise.
As players will no doubt notice, between SCG $5Ks, PTQs, Game Day, pre-releases, and launch parties, there are very few quality dates to schedule private events.
Our rule of thumb is generally not to step on other events' toes, but when we don't have any other option, our feeling is that an event almost 5 hours away is probably not going to affect us.
We wish all competitors in the Vestal event good luck, and also much success to Jupiter in their continued endeavors.

You work around events for your customers, not for yourselves. That's why Jupiter's events are top-notch and worth driving the extra five hours for.

I'm paul longo and i'll pm you my email, which I also gave to you at the event last time. I emailed your @02drop.com email on the 27th of december regarding the tournament results not on dci's ratings and wondering about the free tournament. Thanks for the update about the sanctioning number, I was unsure since I didn't get a reply to my email before. Keep up the good work Dave and the 02drop team.

I agree 100% - the problem is that we have customers who would not drive 5 hours for the tourney in Vestal, and it would be a disservice to them to have promised a tournament since early January, and not come through on it because of a tournament that is so far away.
While I agree this tends to create a paradox between the two, how can we address this with more efficacy?
I'm certainly open to solutions - unfortunately, on such short notice, not one which would cancel this event, but perhaps for future events?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Paul, sorry about the misunderstanding, and I'll shoot you an email today for sure.

From someone who plays in both store's tournaments whenever possible; Knowing the crossover of clientele between the two stores holding tournaments, Eli does post his tournament dates six months ahead of time. Both here, and on the Jupiter web site. It might benefit all if the 0-2 guys checked those dates when deciding a tournment date for their tournaments.

I also should have free entry and I also didn't get the email about free entry (although I did receive and reply to your email about writing for 02drop.com). Are you sure that email was actually sent out? (By the way, I can vouch that Zaresiy is Paul Longo.)
Anyway I'm definitely coming and may be giving a ride to another person.

Dave -
I'm 99.99% sure I just replied to you on facebook. it wasn't a mass email.
If I didn't, lemme know, but I thought I did.

Knowing that is certainly a big help and a step in the right direction.

Ohhh, okay. I just assumed you were talking about some kind of mass email.
Yeah, I got everything you told me through Facebook.
