Wizard announces FTV:Legends

Like the title already discloses, Wotc announces their new From the Vault box.
What do you guys think? Will there be any Legacy playables in the box? What would the "first time blackbordered" Legends are?
At the first glance some sideboard choices like Gaddock Teeg or Llawan, Cephalid Empress will come to mind. But nobody says that all the Legends have to be creatures. At least there are some nice and playable Legendary Lands. The Dude in the announcement looks like Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir.
Personally, I would like to see a New Artwork Progenitus otherwise Karakas would be cool too :wink:

This. They announced Commander pre-cons that will have Eternal-only legal new cards and they're trying to bolster the Commander/EDH community without completely taking it over from Sheldon and the crew. It makes perfect sense that FTV: Legends is going to contain a mix of good, some obscure, and some hard to find Legends for Commander/EDH.

I would not be surprised to find Xiahou Dun the One-Eyed as a legend in this box. It would be his first printing black-bordered, and he's getting to be $100 EDH general if you go per ebay.

Yes it does.
They used to be able to reprint from the reserved list with these sets, but they can't anymore.

When they put Mox Diamond in a FTV set they said it was the last time they would mess with the reserved list. But WotC lie/change their mind a lot, so everything seems possible

As the poster above me already stated, this past year when they "solidified" the reprint policy and dual prices shot up, it's because there was a clause in there that basically said they can reprint premium versions of cards on the reserve list.. Well, they decided to close that loophole and basically say after 2010 finished, they would no longe reprint any version of any card on the reserve list and took the "premium" clause out of the reprint policy.

TL:DR: after the Judge Promos/FTV/Duel Decks in 2010, they have said they will not reprint any card on the reserve list again. This policy of course can be subject to change, but it isn't likely in the forseeable future.

First of all, they wont reprint stuff on the reserved anytime soon.
Second, the announcement reads 15 Legendary Creatures!

There is no Legendary Creature in legacy that is hard to get.

Unfortunately the list of lecagy playable legendary cards is pretty small. I listed some I find interesting in general without the ones on the reserved list and from latest sets (because I think they do not qualify for something from the vault). So this is what it boils down to. Not much for Legacy I would say. Emrakul & his Eldrazi friends maybe are too fresh as well, but Progenitus I could see in such a set.

RE: FTV Legends, I for one would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a foil Volrath's Stronghold, provided they keep the old art. Christ, I love that art. I would buy the set for that even if the rest of it was miscut Zirilan of the Claw.

FTV Lands sounds like a bad idea. Wasteland, Mishra's Factory, Maze of Ith and Gemstone Mine were already foiled. Foiling out Rishadan Port, City of Traitors and Karakas seems stupid. It's not unrealistic, but still stupid.

I doubt they would stuff all of those rather (financial) valueable cards together in one box. If they would bring out a land box there would surely be only one of those in there. The remaining cards would be a mix of (cheaper) playables and some nostalgic stuff.
IMO this the way they designed all the FTV boxes till now.

Actually city of traitors is reserved so no foil version will ever be available in paper. Also, volrath's stronghold is reserved as well *sigh*. I have a korean one though so I'm happy with having the best version available barring ultra super awesome alterations.

In FTV Lands though they should def. include cathedral of serra lol. Or adventurers' guildhouse just all those crappy legend lands that aren't karakas or tabernacle for the lulz.

One of them is the preview legend, leaving 14 others.

Xiahou Dun I think is a good call. I'd rather see Cao Cao, Lord of Wei however. But it is clear that some of the cards will be from P3K.

Beyond that, there is so many.
