I was musing a case-scenario yesterday:

Isochron Scepter imprints Reset:
Question: Can I untap my land with the scepter'd Reset on MY turn?

My answer: Yes, because you are activating Isochron Scepter which puts the copy of Reset on the stack. Even though Reset says you can only play it on an opponent's turn, the spell is already on the stack as Isochron Scepter's activated ability says "You may copy the imprinted instant card and play the copy without paying its mana cost". although it does say "play the copy without paying its mana cost" so would Reset's play-condition on opponent's turn force this to not work?

111.1b Some effects allow a player to cast a copy of a card; if the player does, that copy is a spell as
well. See rule 706.11.

706.11. An effect that instructs a player to “cast a copy” of an object follows the rules for casting spells,
except that the copy is cast while another spell or ability is resolving. Casting a copy of an object
follows steps 601.2a–g of rule 601, “Casting Spells,” and then the copy becomes cast. The cast copy
is a spell on the stack, and just like any other spell it can resolve or be countered.

Basically you cast the copied Reset just like you would cast the card. So the timing restriction still will prevent you from casting it anytime before your opponent's drawstep.

Reset has a timing restriction, so Reset copies have that same timing restriction. The fact that Scepter's ability lets you cast the copy from a zone you usually can't cast spells from doesn't override Reset's inner restrictions. Having to pay its mana cost or not has nothing to do with this either (they are not separate statements, by the way; if you choose to cast the copy, you have to do it without paying its mana cost).

If you used an effect that simply copied the spell without making you play it, then you can get around timing restrictions - those effects put the spell right onto the stack, unlike Isochron Scepter.
