Does anyone know where did it come from (boosters, magic player rewards, other) ? I've started looking only today but can't seem to find one on different commercial sites.

Looks shopped to me. The space between the W and N in the title is odd and seems distorted, and the font used for the type and subtype doesn't look accurate. That and the fact that there is NO info on the net re: Spawn tokens from Darksteel. I could always be wrong, though. :)

Hope you can find an answer!

The possibility that a Spawn-Token from darksteel exists is kinda logical due to the existence of Spawning Pit, which creates 2/2 Spawn tokens... . I am not that good informed on how the tokens were available at that time, but I can really see that they were a kind of player rewards, because Pentavite Tokens (which Pentavus can create, MR) were given at the time of Mirrodin as far as I know. Interesting... .
Towards the link you gave, those Tokens look so fake to me because the layout is so much different from the one of Pentavite and I cant see why the hell they should have changed that instantly, right IN the Block, just my 2 cents.

No Spawn tokens that I can see.

I deal in a lot of cards and I mean a lot and I've never seen one. I've had Blue Hurricanes, Lotuses, and even a Splendid Genesis in hand at one time or another and I've never even seen that token. I kind of doubt it's real.

It's not real. Tokens at that time didn't have the word "Token" on the type line.

Although, to answer the question about where older tokens come from, they were given out as a Magic Player Rewards-type thing if I remember correctly. It started with Invasion and stopped during Kamigawa block (the colorless Spirit tokens are the last ones available in paper IIRC) but was popular enough that Wizards started putting tokens in booster packs during 10th.

Does that mean that I won't be able to find a griffin token (griffin guide) too ?

Thanks for all the answers.
