Alright,

Don't you guys miss when Combo decks were named after breakfasts?

Remember Fruity/Coco Pebbles? (Enduring Renewal + Goblin Bombardment combo)

I'm pretty sure you guys are familiar with Raisin Bran (Aluren) and Golden Grahams (Auriok Salvager). Life was also one (yes, its a cereal name) and Cephalid Breakfast somehow has that breakfast roots to it.

There was even Sunny Side Up Eggs (Second Sunrise). There was a new post here called Cheeri0s (0cc creatures + Glimpse of Nature).

Ever since the storm mechanic showed up, no one is creative enough to name combo decks after breakfasts. I mean Belcher, TES, AnT, SneakShow, Painter... its meh.

Oh ya, there was that SCG article with a deck called Laxstorm. If you ask me, it reminds me more of a laxative brand and not the player (no offence to Ari Lax).

I wish all these combo decks had a breakfast name, just like the good old times. After all, playing the format does bring nostalgia, when you get to play with your old cards.

That is all.

Go create a new combo deck and call it Lucky Charms! lol

I have noticed the lack of creative names lately and an increase of "to the point" nams for decks. I even miss stuff like Mighty Quinn, Deadguy Ale, Rabid Wombat all cool names. Now we have Goblins, Merolk, NO-Pro, Dredge.....list goes on.

*claps* Bravo sir, bravo.

I tend to name my decks after anti-establishment movements or television shows. I never really thought about breakfast ones because as you said there are some out there with names. so I never bothered to name one such things.

Laxstorm = Relax and storm bro, you lose.

I think the trend has been doing this because of how absurd decknames have become:

Example: Team America, does not play RWU

But in the interest of being interesting, I've tried to get Unbalanced & Topless as a deckname to stick. (Next Level Thresh)

It has become a tradition for us to use Malt-o-meal cereals as deck names. Nothing like beating your opponent with Blueberry Muffin Tops.

Tbh, I prefer names that have something to do with the deck, rather than the whacky (some mildly annoying) versions. Don't know exctly why, but to me something like ANT or TES sounds better than Quinn, the Eskimo or Deadguy Ale

LOL. Sigged

Also Full English Breakfast - Volrath's Shapeshifter + Survival http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?734-[Deck]-Full-English-Breakfast

People need to start registering Merfolk as Marshmallow Maties.

I forgot about FEB!

On the other hand, Merfolks? Its not fun to give non-combo decks other names. I think the breakfast nomenclature should strictly be combo decks.

I have noticed that the moment a deck with a cool name ends up listed as something drab and vanilla on a SCG listing or article that is the end of the name unless it was already super well-known.

Alright,

Don't you guys miss when Combo decks were named after breakfasts?

Remember Fruity/Coco Pebbles? (Enduring Ideal + Goblin Bombardment combo)

That is all.

I don't normally nitpick, but these were my most favorite decks of all time. So I need to point out that the combo is Enduring Renewal and Goblin Bombardment. It just hurt me inside to see otherwise :P

Fixed.

I'm calling it, TES is going to be Rice Crispies. That deck can go snap, crackle or pop.

Well the Squadron Hawk is a bird, and birds go Caw. They often are carrying swords of feast and famine and a sword is a blade. Therefore you get Caw Blade.

I prefer Caw-Go, actually. Of course, that only sticks if you yell "CAW!" at your opponent before calmly passing the turn.

I am so gonna use this name!

Edit: Plus, I'm considerably known in my town for playing LEDless Ichorid and giving the list Porn-names.

Spritzgebäck vom Fickolaus has to be my favourite, but I think I have been through every Name on the long list of even slightly funny Porn titels. Even In Diana Jones was used(pun intended).

There is actually a story behind that one, Gearbear and Dan loosely based Team America off of a BUG Tempo deck called Europe and being Americans called their deck Team America.

Nice inside joke. Still a terrible way to name decks. Gearhart also named Solidarity, and there was another one named Nausea. Doesn't make these names useful.

The best part about the Team America name is that whenever the deck would top 8 in Europe it would always be named Team 'Whatever country I am from' on deck check.

Hmmmm... Perhaps the mono-brown Forgemaster Decks should be re-named Count Chocula?

Ah, drafting bad white spells and then winning because of them is a great way to name your deck...

If it makes you feel better, I'll start referring to Glimpse-Elves as Lucky Charms.

Half the people I know call the deck Ichorid, the other half call it Dredge.

I call it Boom Boom Fun Time Factory.

Ichorid should clearly be Coco Puffs.

Reanimator could easily be shredded wheat.

You drop one fat brick and try to make as tough to eat as possible.
