As a player who has never played combo in legacy, id like to see what the consensus is and get a discussion going about the uses and usefulness of serum powder, which is quite a unique card in MTG. Have lists besides silly ones like flash hulk ever ran it consistently? How does it affect goldfishing statistics?

It has been discussed for a number of decks, most notably Dragon Stompy. The consensus has always ended up that simply running more cards that do what you want is always better because they aren't dead outside the opening 7. Also, if you get a good 6 + Serum Powder on opening it is like you mulled anyway.

My guess is that it is only played in Dredge in vintage because they want Bazaar in their opening hand every game.

EDIT: I don't actually play vintage so if someone knows more feel free to correct me.

Serum Powder could be funny in Leyline + Chancellor deck :P
But for the rest Serum Powder doesnt get played.

Lol, wow, you read my mind. I was about to post a preliminary decklist with 8 chancellors and leylines and serum powders right before i posted this.

A bit of a necro here, but just wondering if maybe this card hasn't been looked at hard enough?

Obviously this is good in Vintage Dredge because you just mull for Bazaar, but I'm wondering if there are some real Legacy applications here. Primarily, I'm thinking of Belcher and All Spells, but I could also see it maybe working in a slightly slower combo deck (Hive Mind).

I've considered it in MUD Stompy and Forgemaster MUD, since MUD depends a lot on its starting hand. It's also another Mana accelerant, and you can reveal it to Metalworker.

It's useful in linear combo decks like Belcher and Manaless Dredge, that's about it fwiw.
