Well I got this idea after reading through the Sunforger combo thread. While the idea is great I fooled around with it a little bit and liked how Puresteel worked. So I got to thinking what about a more aggro application for Puresteel Paladin. Use a more synergistic approach, while not having to do a back flip to win.

Steel Foundry

4x Puresteel Paladin
4x Mirran Crusader
3x Stoneforge Mystic
2x Trinket Mage
4x Ornithopter
2x Sword of Fire and Ice
1x Sword of Light and Shadow
1x Loxodon Warhammer
1x Cranial Plating
1x Sword of the Meek
2x Thopter Foundry
4x Aether Vial
4x Brainstorm
3x Ponder
4x Swords to Plowshares
2x Enlightened Tutor
4x Tundra
4x Flooded Strand
1x Arid Mesa
1x Misty Rainforest
3x Plains
1x Island
2x Ancient Den
2x Seat of the Synod

SB:
2x Ethersworn Canonist
3x Disenchant
3x Tormod's Crypt
3x Orim's Chant
1x Umezawa's Jitte
2x Elspeth, Knight-Errant
1x Pithing Needle???????

Card Choices

Puresteel Paladin: Seems to be really good. Metalcraft is pretty easy to get and the card advantage this guy offers is pretty good.

Mirran Crusader: Double Strike and protection from green are both pretty good. He really only needs a single equipment to get even better.

Stoneforge Mystic: Fetch up the equipment and cheat it into play. I really want to get a 4th in. 1x Ponder might end up getting cut for it.

Trinket Mage: The iffy creature in the deck. It does find Ornithopter or Artifact lands to help with metalcraft and it's a body. Not sure if it's going to stay or if something like Basilisk Collar might find it's way into the SB or MD.

Ornithopter: Well it's here because it has flying, it costs 0, helps metalcraft and carries equipment really well.

SoFI: This is the best Sword. Damage and card draw add in Double Strike and it can spell GG.

SoLS: 2nd best sword IMO. This and other pcs of eqipment can be changed around and probably will be depending on the meta.

Warhammer: Gives a little bit of everything. Nice pump, trample and Lifelink.

Plating: This will probably become a Sword of something or other. But right now it does give a bonus of +4/+0 most of the time.

Thopter/Sword: Another win condition of the deck. With Puresteel out it draws you a card as well.

Brainstorm and Ponder: Here to get some card quality into the deck.

STP: Best removal in the game for W.

Enlightened Tutor: Finds Thopter Foundry, equipment, artifact lands, etc.

Artifact lands: There to help Metalcraft.

SB: Is still a work in progress but a good starting point.

You've got eleven blue cards in there right now, add force and daze and you're up to19, add the fourth ponder and you're at 20, which is enough to support fow. go up to four stoneforge mystics and cut some of the excess dross like ornithopter, bad equipments, and e. tutor. Also add Jitte. And if you're going for metalcraft, look at some utility like spellbombs or e.e. or needle or revoker. I think you might be on to something cool here, but it needs refinement.

I see a distinct lack of Auriok Steelshaper in there, the combined power boost of just having one equip on him is wonderful. Another somewhat amusing, if suboptimal equip is Sword of the Paruns, the ability to get your untap on is definitely interesting.

How essential are the Aether Vials? I mean, between Stoneforge and Puresteel, I'd be thinking that mana shouldn't be an issue. And don't forget Dispatch from New PHyrexia. That would most likely replace Plow.

You should try 1-2 Batterskull. Unlike other eqips, this one works fine without creatures.

Fixed deck list, had Sacred Mesa instead of Arid, big difference. LOL

Not sure how that would work out since you would have to either cut some equipment, or creatures and I don't think that would go the direction I'm thinking. I want to keep blut a splash and not make it the main focus.

Vial is useful at helping metalcraft while doing allowing to drop stuff and still have mana for other things. Like playing equipment.

You do know it does cost 5 right?

Yes.
But 4/4 Vigilance Lifelink for :1::w: from Mystic looks pretty exiting.

So after having issues with not drawing enough lands I changed a few things around.

So here's a updated list:

4x Puresteel Paladin
3x Stoneforge Mystic
4x Mirran Crusader
3x Ornithopter
1x Etched Champion
2x Ethersworn Canonist
2x Etherium Sculptor
4x Brainstorm
4x Swords to Plowshares
3x Sensei's Divining Top
2x Sword of Fire and Ice
1x Sword of Light and Shadow
1x Umezawa's Jitte
2x Bonesplitter
1x Sword of the Meek
2x Thopter Foundry
4x Flooded Strand
1x Arid Mesa
1x Misty Rainforest
2x Ancient Den
1x Seat of the Synod
4x Tundra
6x Plains
2x Island

SB:
4x Disenchant
2x Ethersworn Canonist
3x Phyrexian Revoker
6x Open Slots

Etherium Sculptor: More of an experiment with this guy. I like the idea of him( make equiptment cost less, helps Metalcraft, and can carry equiptment) and I'm going to test it out. Not sure if it will stay. Might become Mother of Runes. I feel the deck needs some good one drop creatures.

Etched Champion: As a 1 of I think it's fine. Helps Metalcraft and being pro colors can be good. Not sure if it's going to stay but worth a test.

Batterskull:At first i dismissed it as ehh.. but looking at it again I think it might be worth a look. Sure it's 4/4 for 5 lifelink but the return to hand could be good.

So far, I think a Stompy approach might be the best shell for Puresteel Paladin:

4 [MR] Ancient Den
3 [DS] Darksteel Citadel
9 [MBS] Plains
4 [TE] Ancient Tomb
3 [EX] City of Traitors

4 [WWK] Stoneforge Mystic
3 [ALA] Ethersworn Canonist
3 [NPH] Puresteel Paladin
2 [MBS] Phyrexian Revoker
3 [SOM] Etched Champion
3 [ARC] Lodestone Golem
3 [NPH] Phyrexian Metamorph

2 [IA] Jeweled Amulet
1 [DS] Sword of Fire and Ice
1 [BOK] Umezawa's Jitte
3 [SOM] Mox Opal
1 [DS] Sword of Light and Shadow
2 [NPH] Batterskull
2 [FD] Cranial Plating
4 [MR] Chalice of the Void

I'm still tweaking the numbers. But that's the general idea.

I really, really like Metamorph here. Can copy Stoneforges for extra equipment or copy equipment, triggering Puresteel Paladin. Also good to get another copy of Batterskull into play.

I still feel the deck wants Thopter Foundry as an additional win. With so many artifacts in the deck the lack of flying in general in Legacy.

I have been toying with the idea of getting Tomb or City in the deck. It feels kind of slow, but I really haven't tested the new a ton.

2 [IA] Jeweled Amulet

You mean Mox Diamond?

You mean Mox Diamond?
I did, but Mox Diamond is sometimes good, but also quite often completely dead.

Jeweled Amulet gets the job better done in the context of the deck.

Has anybody ever considered to abuse Puresteel Paladin & Stoneforge Mystic in a combo way?

Rough list:

Puresteel Paladin
Stoneforge Mystic
// For Puresteel or Stoneforge Nr. 5-8, or copy their Iona / Emrakul
Phyrexian Metamorph
// Protecting Puresteel
Lightning Greaves

Ethersworn Canonist
Leonin Bola
Slagwurm Armor
Spidersilk Net
Paradise Mantle
Cranial Plating

// Combo:
Sword of the Meek
Thopter Foundry

// In combination with a fetchland:
Sensei's Divining Top

Esperzoa
Words of Wind
Force of Will

Perhaps Stasis or Winter Orb? (who needs more than 1 land, if your equipments costs 0 or 1? Paradise Mantle also helps)

//Edit:
- Enlightened Tutor to get Words of Wind, Sensei's Divining Top or any equipment
- Some Swords to Plowshares for removal
- Propaganda or Ghostly Prison if having trouble with creature swarm

The kill combos:
1. Puresteel Paladin + Words of Wind + 0 or 1 mana equipment, to force everyone to bring a permanent back to their hand (and we just return the 0 / 1 mana equipment to our hand, to play again. Esperzoa can help, if you have no equipment to cast in your hand)

//Edit:
1.1. Words of Wind + Sensei's Divining Top reads:
2: each opponent bounces a permanent of his or her choice

2. Sword of the Meek + Thopter Foundry

3. Esperzoa + Cranial Plating for the win (or heck, Stoneforge Mystic or whoever with or without Cranial Plating for the win, if your opponent's board is empty from combo nr. 1)

The other spells / equipments are meant to stall, until the combo is ready.
