For the first time ever, The Source will have its own area to hang out in! This will be just outside the tournament hall. If someone is planning to hang out rather than play or gets knocked out early, we'll probably want people to watch the tables.

Secondly, Sourcepads are back! They look something like this:

Hotels:
The TO has arranged special deals with two hotels. Not only is there a GP rate, but the TO will be running a free shuttle between the hotels and the venue since the hotels are not within walking distance.

Parking is $10/day at the venue if you drive.

These hotels have no rooms available on Saturday because it's Memorial day weekend and graduation weekend in addition to the GP.

Crowne Plaza
At The Crossing, 801 Greenwich Ave, Warwick, RI, 02886, 1-401-732-6000
Room Rate: $129.00 per room, per night plus tax, only 11 miles from downtown Providence. Parking is included in the room rate. Free shuttle service from this hotel to the Convention Center on May 27-29.

Holiday Inn Express
901 Jefferson Blvd, Warwick, RI, 02886, 1-401-736-5000
Room Rate: $129.00 per room, per night plus tax, only 9 miles away from downtown Providence. Parking is included in the room rate. Free shuttle service from this hotel to the Convention Center on May 27-29.

There *are* still hotels in the area with rooms, so post if you need help finding a room.

Example:
Quality Inn in Somerset, MA (http://www.qualityinn.com/hotel-somerset-massachusetts-MA100?promo=gglocal) - $130/night and about 20-30 minutes from the venue.

Are the playmats as nice as other commercially available playmats? If so, count me in.

I'm hoping some people can get to Die Hard early, so we can mingle as Sourcers. CDR, anyway I can make a requisition for "Hello, my name is..." stickers? I was hoping for a Sourcers shin-dig meetup/trading time.

Playmats are professionally printed, standard 24x14 mats.

I'm hoping pads + playmats will be enough to recognize fellow sourcers, but feel free to bring nametags if you want. Stickers were considered, but they don't last.

I have nothing to do Thursday anyway, so I'll probably show up at DHG when it opens at 3.

Sounds like a blast. I wish you all well.

I'm interested to know if there are leftover play mats. I would pay extra for shipping of course.

I think it's very awesome that Mental Misstep made the mat. Already an every day name in Legacy and not yet tournament legal. Too fantastic!

Awesome mat, really want to grab one of these! :D

Unfortunately can't make it. Go figure. Closest GP to me, and also a legacy GP and it has to be the one weekend I cannot go to providence since i take a trip with friends to Baltimore every memorial day.

C'est la vie. Hopefully some mats will be left over and i can get one through paypal. :p

Why the TO get hotels so far away from convention center? Wouldn't it make more sense to get hotels downtown or are they that much more expensive?

Tons more expensive. Some of the hotels close to the convention center were charging like 400 a night when my friend was looking a few months ago. Cause apparently Providence is a big Memorial Day getaway destination.

Brown U is right next to downtown and it's graduation weekend, so that might have a lot to do with it.

I'm a little bit upset that Mental Misstep and Knight of the Reliquary made the mat before things like:

Dark Ritual
Lotus Petal
Lion's Eye Diamond
Goblin Lackey
Jace, the Mind Sculptor
Counterbalance
Engineered Explosives
Counterspell
Daze
Tendrils of Agony
Chalice of the Void
Umezawa's Jitte
Grindstone
Painter's Servant

But this playmat is still the sickest fucking thing I've ever seen.

Knight of the Reliquary is a pretty big legacy card, it definitely sees more play then half that list. MM might have been premature but it is a good way to commemorate the GP as this is essentially GP MM in most people's minds. Sick playmat, I approve.

Guys, the venue is basically right off the highway and Rhode Island is a small state, if you have to, you can get a hotel farther away from the event, parking fee does suck, but its better than nothing.

I'm staying at the Marriott in Foxborough, like 17 miles from the convention center. But yeah, it looks like it's a straight shot down 95 to get there, so not too bad.

Are the byes automatically taken into account when you register, or do you have to make note of it or something? First time I've ever had them so I'm not sure if there's anything I have to do to make the day a tiny bit easier.

Also, I definitely want a playmat. I'll try to grab some "Hi, I'm" stickers since they're pretty cheap and several people seem interested.

As of right now, it looks like all mats are likely spoken for either at or after the GP. If you expressed interest in getting one after the GP, you're on a list in the order you expressed interest. You can still ask to be added to the post-GP list, but obviously no guarantees.

If you preorder you're guaranteed one at the GP, and we can still take preorders, but you should be fine not preordering if you're going to the GP.

I'm sure if they all dont sell, I can find some locals to pick up the rest, or just make a thread about them and sell the left overs. I'm sure there are plenty of people here that don't know about the mats

Not that I'm the most active member on this forum, usually I just read the forums for new developments to decks and to see the shiny awesomesauce of some peoples' collections, but I would like to get a handful of these mats.

Is the hang out area outside of the tournament hall outside enough to buy the mats there (is being outside of the venue outside of the venue?), or will some other arrangement be possible if I don't use PayPal?

My current schedule has me arriving in Rhode Island on Friday afternoon, which leaves me out of the DHG fun, but then (hopefully) I will do well in an ungodly amount of rounds between Saturday and Sunday

We will hopefully have one of the vendors taking money for mats at the venue, though I haven't heard for sure yet.

Being a regular there... I'm sorely disappointed! :P
That's cool though.

I was actually thinking of making this thread more about trades though. Is there anything people are looking for specifically at the GP that they don't feel like buying and would want to trade for? I had a Tundra up for trade, but I'm probably pulling that from my binder. I'll probably have at least one or two duals in there though. :)

Currently in my binder is a foil Daze in NM/M condition. I have two Doubling Season as well, and I'd probably be willing to trade 3 Goyfs, depending obviously. I also have a playset of signed Dark Rituals (Rebecca Guay; Mercadian Masques). I'm mostly looking for Stoneforge Mystics, Force of Wills, or Sword of Fire and Ice. I do have a ton of cards though. If anyone needs staples, recommend some binder stuffing. I have 60 slots to fill. :)

I don't want to work out "pre-trades" on here but I'd like to just see people bring these cards, we can talk it out in person.

Anyone need anything from me? I'll see what I have laying around. ;)

DHG is closed after Thursday. There'll be grinders and Super FNM at the GP on Friday, though those stop before 8PM. You can stop by the Source area, though.

the source area is going to be at the convention center?

EDIT:

Can I also reserve a mat, but pay for it this friday? I don't get paid til thursday so I'm kinda out of money atm.

Also, me and a Friend of mine(possibly one more) are looking to see if any more people on the source would be interested in splitting a room to try to bring the costs down for everyone.

The Source area will be just outside of the door to the GP hall.

A mat will be reserved for you if possible.

If anyone else has said they want a mat at the GP but hasn't prepaid, a mat has been reserved for them.

Doesn't look like my friend is going, so in the event there are extras after the GP and those who already reserved extras, can I be added to the list?

I think the source get-together should be fun. I'll try to be there at 3-4pm. Also, is the pizza going to be before or during the tournament? I'm pretty sure most people won't want to eat and play at the same time. Grease on sleeves leads to much fail.

-Matt

I'm looking forward to it immensely.

When I do free food for my pre-releases it usually happens in between rounds and I allow a break to eat food. Typically 10-15 minutes. Logistically that could change tonight and it really depends on turnout. I promise you will have time to eat pizza without risking greasing up your cards :p 2 Slices of pizza per person will be completely free for anyone who entered =D I usually only do one free slice for my events, but this a special occasion -_- Extra slices will only cost $1 each and we'll have bucketloads of soda and chips on hand for sale as well.

Coming between 3-4pm is totally cool with me. We open at 3pm so I wouldn't advise coming earlier than that. Finding us in the mill (Hope Artiste Village) can be a challenge to those who have never attended my store. Your best bet is to park in the big giant parking lot in the middle courtyard. The Met is to the right of it. We are located on the left side of the mill complex. The door in the back left corner of the courtyard leads directly to us. We're #2230. Anyone having trouble finding us can call our store at (401) 312-3407. If there's a sign that says 'no parking' ignore it. That's meant for people attending The Met. You can park in the middle courtyard, and I encourage it since that's the easiest way to get to the store. But there's hundreds of parking spots around the mill and directly behind it.

There's a motel 6 that's 15 minutes from the site and many of my friends are staying there. It's like $50-60 a night. Providence itself is all but booked at this point. Motel 6 is a very good option for multiple people looking for a last minute place to stay cheap.

http://www.motel6.com/reservations/motel_detail.aspx?num=1282

Exit 15 directly off the highway. The exit for the gp is exit #22. RI exits are very close together and it's 10-15 minute drive. 20 if you are stuck in traffic.

That's really what I would tell you and anyone else at this point looking for a place to stay. Providence has literally no hotels right now and if there are rooms available the rate is through the roof because it's graduation weekend at Brown U, which is like 5 minutes from the site.

As for me, we've stocked the case and are prepared for hopefully a big turnout tonight. we'll be open all night well past our posted hours of 11pm. The tourney will start at 6:30pm barring unforseen circumstances, so please show earlier. I've been telling people to come for 6 so they can get settled.

Decklists are not required, but we'll be treating the tournament seriously so please don't think about shenanigans

I'll have our gauntlet arcade machine on and both x-boxes... free videogames

Is DHG going to do an FNM there that us sourcers can go to and meet up? Cause I can't make the thursday thing, and wont be in the area til 8ish pm.

We won't be open fri/sat/sun. I've been directing people looking to play FNM to the site. They are having a big one and I didn't want to detract from that.

DHG's big night is tonight! We hope anyone in town a little early for the GP will come join us, as I have a feeling this will be our largest weekly Legacy ever

That's really it. Looking forward to meeting everyone =D

I'm not sure if I'm going to personally be making to DHG tonight due to a staff meeting, but I know a couple of the Temple Games crew will be showing up. Anyone staying at the Super 8 in Attleboro? That was the cheapest hotel I could find in the area. 60-70 bucks a night is significantly better then 200+. And a taxi from there to the convention center costs the same as parking for the day.

Minus: That's about 50' from the entrance to the GP hall, much less in it.

Another favour to ask. Can someone let me know when the tournament starts? In terms of how many hours after this post (about 7.15pm, Aussie time). I am really looking forward to this coverage, given how big the Legacy scene is in Australia (it's as threadbare as Trump's head)
