View Full Version : Wort, the Raidmother (RG Token-ish theme)

I am just getting back into Magic this Summer since I really don't have the time or ability to play the other three seasons. The first thing that I thought of doing is getting an EDH deck ready so that brought me here. RG has always been a favorite color combination of mine and that also caused me to put together Intet as my first EDH deck. Well, now I want to try something a little different; something a little more cool and relaxing to play than something with blue or too controlling. Wort was an easy choice as she allows pretty broken things to happen but in a cool creature shell. Here is the list I have got so far.

Currently 114 cards... I always have trouble cutting these decklists down.

But anyway, on to what I am trying to do with the deck. It is meant to set and ramp up fast so that I can get my engines going. I have a good token theme, good recursion, a lot of draw and search, and a good assortment of controlling creatures and spells. I need to lose a whole chunk of the deck but I don't know which aspects to cut back on or eliminate. I feel like I have the minimum number of creatures I want for a good Survival deck, but I can't find any more spells that I want to cut because I want Wort to be as effective as possible and that means having a lot of good, expensive cards in the deck.

People who have experience with token decks like Wort, what do you feel is a good number of token producers for the deck to function? How do you make tokens a strong theme but also so you are not over-reliant on them?

After some help I will hopefully be able to trim it down. So are there any suggestions? Am I missing a card that I must have?
