This should be an easy question, but it's been bothering me so I figured I'd just check here.

How does Mossbridge Troll interact with "can't be regenerated" effects such as Wrath of God?

I had thought that the Troll wouldn't regenerate, but then someone argued with me that it isn't being regenerated it's just regenerating. I said "fuck, those are compelling semantics and my English degree is proud."

Thanks in advance,

Pat

It dies. Here is the relevant rule:

"701.11c Neither activating an ability that creates a regeneration shield nor casting a spell that creates a regeneration shield is the same as regenerating a permanent. Effects that say that a permanent can't be regenerated don't prevent such abilities from being activated or such spells from being cast; rather, they prevent regeneration shields from having any effect."

Mossbridge Troll essentially has a permanent regeneration shield; the replacement effect will fail to work if the effect destroying it (or some other effect) says it can't be regenerated.
