View Full Version : Reviving the dead (Stasis Deck)

well, have spent too many years without being able to play a deck based on "Stasis", so one of my goals for this semester as a legacy player, is to update this deck:

I present
Stasis new level
Lock:
4 Stasis
4 Chain of Vapor
3 Garruk Wildspeaker

Disruption:
4 Force of will
4 spell snare
4 Mental Misstep
4 daze
4 stifle
Utilities:
4 brainstorm
3 impulse
Lands
4 Tropical Island
4 Forsaken City
4 Misty Rain Forest
2 scalding tarn
1 Dryad arbor
7 Island.

The idea is simple, hold until we can play Garruk and then a "stasis", and then slowly hit with "token" beast 3 / 3 ....

so far, I've played against (matchs played, no games)
Dark Horizons beating 2x0 (very easy)
Gobblins 2x2 (very difficult)
Merfolks 1x2 (very difficult)
eva green 2x1(very dificult)

so, do you think about this new version?

It's gives you some other plans beyond Stasis, and other ways to continue the lock.

You could also try playing both Garruk and Tezzeret the Seeker with some artifact mana to give you more ways to make Stasis one sided.

This deck can be effectively built without non-basics or fetchlands. Garruk need not be an auto-include, if the 1 land drop per turn can be sustained, the lock is sustained. 19 basic islands and 4 Forsaken City enables the upkeep cost payment. Howling Mine, Chain of Vapor and the free counterspells that refill the hand with lands make this strategy viable. Here's the latest list I was running with good results against most established decks.

I have ran a very similar decklist, and I suggest at least one Foil, because with all the bounce and draw effects, getting rid of chaff is a net zero. I also ran two Frozen Aether, but haven't tested one. Fun deck though.

That only works if you get an untap step, aka not under stasis

Oh crap, thats true.

For some reason, I was thinking that it was worded the same as Sands of Time.
