i was considering this with some friends in a local playground and wanted to know how busted, unfun, or interesting this banned list.

we banned only any card with the words "ante" on the card. we unrestrict all cards and instead we restrict EVERY card with converted mana cost of 1 or less. this would include cards such as fireball, breakthrough, etc.

we errata chaos orb to as follows:
Chaos Orb 2
Artifact
1, sacrifice Chaos Orb: destroy any permanent. (this includes one with shroud.)

we errata falling star to as follows:
Falling Star 2R
sorcery
destroy a creature an opponent then tap all of the other creatures that opponent controls.

so what do you guys think of this list?

I think 4 demonic tutors is one of the dumbest things you can do

Or just keep that bad opinion to yourself.

Why is arbitrarily restricting every card based on mana cost better than restricting based on power level within the format? Please don't spam the mana drain with this unless you enjoy getting hated on endlessly.

i posted on the manadrain about this. i don't see any issue and neither do my friends so far. you can't do anything "busted" if every 1 or 0 drop is restricted. and 4 demonic tutors isn't "busted". especially if every 2 drop isn't restricted.

balance for instance is a great come back card. etc.

1 Duress
1 Thoughtseize
1 Inquisition of Kozilek
3 Unmask
4 Demonic Tutor
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Imperial Seal
1 Brainstorm
1 Ponder
1 Portent
1 Preordain
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Ancestral Recall
4 Time Walk
4 Force of Will
4 Lim-Dul's Vault
4 Flash
4 Protean Hulk
1 Karmic Guide
1 Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker
2 Body Snatcher
1 Carrion Feeder
1 Benevolent Bodyguard
5 Moxen
1 Black Lotus
10 fetchlands + Underground Seas

I mean this is a rough list but I'm pretty sure you lose constantly 100% of the time.

You might not actually play the off-color moxen and run Dazes instead.

Are lands considered 0 drops? God I hope so.

With the redundancy of cards as IBA has shown, you can easily do broken things with nothing but 1 ofs of the cheap stuff. Tinker? Flash? Chub Toad? Trinisphere? Memory Jar?

4 Necropotence, 4 Yawgmoth's Will again? Awesome.

Also, please either change the subject title or lock this thread so that Vintage players don't get a heart attack when they read this thread.

Finally, all those Noble Fish players get to run the 4 Chub Toads they've always dreamed of, lol. This thread is hilarious. To the OP: it would be a fun kitchen table format, and y'all should totally do it. But be fully aware that it if y'all built optimal decks under these conditions, the games would hinge on "first turn wins" waaaaay more than actual Vintage does. Waaaaay more

every format already have a lot of 1st turn wins, but i'd say it is a lot more difficult in a format where everyone has access to more disruption. (ie 4 strip mines, 4 balance, 4 trinisphere, etc..)

you can have 4 of any land type which would include strip mine etc and yes even tolarian academy. and yes 1st turn trinisphere would happen way more often.

Will someone finally fill me in on that Chub toad joke? I think that stupid joke has been going on since Beyond Dominaria and I still have no clue what it was about.
