There was a list of U/W wizards that got a SCG deck tech a few months back, and I was inspired by the use of Patron to build Wizards myself. Here's the link to the deck tech: http://www.starcitygames.com/magic/legacy/21495_Deck_Tech_Wizards_with_Alexander_Lapping.html. I liked the concept of it, even if the list and player were both a bit lacking.
A few comments on that list:
Burrenton Forge-Tender seems like a pretty awful choice, as against the aggro match-up all the relevant creatures are green, not red.
Azorious Guildmage however, seems pretty strong. I played some initial matches with the deck at my local Wednesday night Legacy, and that guy was great all night. I like two of him, because he's only relevant when you have open mana late game to take advantage of him.
Seeing him running U/W and not running Meddling Mage seemed really bad to me, so I threw them into the main my initial testing. He seemed strong later in the matches, feeling weak game one, so for now they're in the board.
His deck really lacked card advantage, so I thought I'd play arguably the best 2 drop in Legacy, which also happens to be a wizard. Splashing Black seemed logical for Dark Confidant, and Vialing him in seemed really good too.
Here's my list so far:
4 Sage of Epityr
4 Cursecatcher
4 Dark Confidant
4 Spellstutter Sprite
2 Azorious Guildmage
4 Patron Wizard
3 Sower of Temptation
1 Azami, Lady of Scrolls
4 Swords to Plowshares
4 Aether Vial
4 Daze
4 Flooded Strand
4 Polluted Delta
2 Underground Sea
4 Tundra
8 Island
SB:
4 Force of Will
3 Perish
3 Serenity
3 Ethersworn Canonist
2 Elspeth, Knight Errant
Let me know what you think.
