The idea is to brainstorm a Zoo-like list in monogreen.

To start with, Wasteland proof is not argument enough for a lot of people, and being way cheaper either, so, if you are one of these, or believe this to be a crap idea, don't post, it won't add anything anyways.

Monogreen Stompy, as it was called before "Stompy" decks turning into Chalice-aggro decks, has never been this able to exist before: It has 2/2 creatures for :g:, it has the improved (Avoid fate + Symbiosis) = Vines of Vastwood, it has a decent removal in Dismember, has one of, if not the best beatstick in the format with Tarmogoyf, it has good business cards in Phyrexian Revoker and Viridian Zealot , and it has free-counter to prevent Swords to plowshares and Lightning Bolt in Mental Misstep. And it has its usual bombs in Rancor (which is underrated and could well play in regular zoo), Sylvan Library and Umezawa's Jitte.

It's just a lot of better options than it used to have, and thus I thought of mixing everything into a new stompy. Since the "Stompy" name is taken, I'll call it Monogreen Zoo.

This is an untested, non-proved, sample list, brainstormed by myself:

//Higly complex and studied Manabase
18 Forest

//Thugs
4 Nettle Sentinel
4 Jungle Lion
4 Skarrgan pit-skulk
4 Tarmogoyf
2 Silhana Ledgewalker

//Engineers - Catch-all Solutions
3 Phyrexian Revoker
3 Viridian Zealot

//Thugs' Beatstick
4 Rancor
2 Umezawa's Jitte

//Swiss army-knife survival pack
4 Vines of Vastwood
3 Mental Misstep
3 Dismember
2 Sylvan Library

If you know, and is certain that this idea sux, move to your DTB thread of preference and don't comment ;D

Some other ideas I had involved Kavu Predator+ Invigorate, Talara's Battalion + Manamorphose (which is really easily playable as 2 talata + 4 morphose) and Skarrgan pit-skulk, and there's also Silhana Ledgewalker, which is a bomb with Rancor or Jitte.

Fetchlands are also an idea, but with everyone playing fetchlands, you don't really need them to increase goyf power, and it would be the decision between risking to get Stifles from TA and using the strong synergy between them and Sylvan Library. I chose to reduce the land count to the minimun I can do.

Another idea, of course, is running Wasteland or not. They are amazing, are they worth it?

The last idea, the one I dismissed for this deck, is to run manadorks/accelerators, like Noble Hierarch and Elvish Spirit Guide. This list is supposed to play similar to Zoo, and not Big Zoo, and look at Zoo - do they run accelerators? We don't need them too. Linear is better for aggro decks.

Any other ideas will be apreciated. :wink:

The only reason real Zoo gets away with running a bunch of vanilla beaters is that it packs enough removal to reliably clear the way for them. Burn also doubles as reach when fatties do come down on the other side of the table. As it is you have 3 removal spells and 4 Rancor to push some damage through.

Technically, there's Giant Growth, Vines of Vastwood to attriction wars and Talara's/Silhanas/Skarrgans can push through chumpblockes too. But I get what you mean. What do you suggest, then? Just don't suggest "Play Regular Zoo", and I'm fine.

BTW, I forgot Jitte... something worth... in the spot of GG... will edit the list

That's tough without adding a color. Green mostly has a lot of suboptimal removal like Beast Within, Lignify, and Snakeform. The problem with using stuff like that or Giant Growth is that you're spending an extra card to get rid of one of their blockers and still not doing any damage. If you really don't want to splash and start heading down the road to Zoo, I guess I'd try out Berserk.

Or you could go manadork style (noble hierarch/or even llanowar elves/quirion dryad) and add Winter Orb & Tangle Wire. And maybe some subpar 3 drops like Great Sable Stag, Troll Ascetic or Leatherback Baloth.

I like the idea, it's like classic a classic stompy variant.

I think the deck needs a little more resilience...and I'm thinking Nimble Mongoose and possibly my new favorite casual tempo/thresh card Scythe Tiger

The best part about Scythe Tiger is that you don't sacrifice the land as part of the cost...its an enters-the-battlefield effect, so if it's countered, you keep your land. Enough goodness to make it playable at my kitchen table anyways, lol.
