This is a deck that initially started off as a Deadguy Ale deck but eventually became something of its own. Basically I took the goodness of Dark Confidant and Stoneforge Mystic and added a touch of Affinity/Metalcraft in the form of Etched Champion. Here is a simple decklist that has been very successful:

Creatures (20)
4 Vault Skirge
4 Tidehollow Sculler
4 Dark Confidant
4 Stoneforge Mystic
4 Etched Champion

Spells (10)
4 Thoughtseize
4 Swords to Plowshares
2 Vindicate

Artifacts (10)
2 Mox Opal
4 Aether Vial
1 Cranial Plating
1 Umezawa's Jitte
1 Sword of Fire and Ice
1 Batterskull

Lands (20)
4 Wasteland
4 Ancient Den
4 Vault of Whispers
4 Scrubland
4 Marsh Flats

Sideboard (15)
2 Tormod's Crypt
2 Nihil Spellbomb
4 Phyrexian Revoker
4 Ethersworn Canonist
3 Diabolic Edict

I have tried incorporating Hymn to Tourach in the list to make this a real Deadguy deck but double black can be difficult to achieve early on. The deck comes down very hard and once established, an equiped champion is nearly unstoppable. An Enlightened Tutor sideboard package looks like a promising alternative.

Matchups:

Sligh, Zoo, and other aggressive/creature based decks are fair. It all depends on how fast Jitte gets online. Champion and Skirge perform well. Usually a good matchup that becomes smoother with a good sideboard.

Countertop, Landstill, MUC, and other heavy control decks are some very good matchups. Vials and Stoneforges really shine when it comes to swarming the board uncountered. Champion is the bane of their existence and Revokers come in G2 to take care of Deeds and EE.

Team America, Bant, Maverick, Deadguy, and other Aggro/Control decks are all fairly good matchups depending on what role they try to take. Generally, the control deck will fall while the aggro deck has a better chance at racing us. Qasali Pridemage and opposing stoneforge packages are usually the most difficult to deal with, making Maverick the hardest matchup. Merfolk, however, is an absolute joke.

ANT, Belcher, Desire, SnT, and other combo decks are very unfavorable. Game 1 is generally lost while G2 revolves around Ethersworn Canonist. Like many non-blue decks, G1 is a lost cause.

Reanimator, Dredge, and other graveyard-dependant decks are, well, pretty much the same for everyone...

You should think about Ardent Recruit (http://magiccards.info/mbs/en/2.html)
its basically a Metalcraft Nacatl

What would you take out for the Ardent Recruit?

Vault Skirge is a flying lifelink equip carrier that can be played for 1cc.
Tidehollow is 2cc targeted hand disruption that eats removal like a champ.
Both of these guys help hit metalcraft for your Opal and Champion and add to your Cranial Plating.

I don't think I need to make a case for Bob, SFM, or the Etched Champion.

I successfully played a similar build with the only difference in a blue splash for Master of Etherium, Thoughtcast and Spell Snare which have all been decent.
I also agree with the Scullers and Vindicates, but you might try UWB Vial Affinity instead, its so awesome. :) I moved Batterskull to the SB btw, and might cut it at all, since its just bad without counter protection on your sfm. Searching for plating might be the best way to abuse SFM ever.

I tried playing 3 colors and the manabase has proven to be unreliable. With 12 artifact lands, I can't reliably hit the right color for thoughtseize, stp, bob, sfm, and vindicate + sculler become a headache. I still run into that issue with 4 Dens and 4 Vaults from time to time. The only way I managed to play 3 colors was with Springleaf Drums, Mox Opals, and lots of Ornithopters and Memnites but I opted against those because they take on too much deck space and simply suck.

I agree with Batterskull being sub-par for the maindeck. I have never been sold on that card and have yet to struggle against it. As of late, I have been playing a 3rd Vindicate in skull's stead.

Have you ever tried Glimmervoid?
I was adding 3 Glimmervoids to my manabase and i have never been screwed with 3 colors since then. The only drawback is that you cant play wasteland, which is supoptimal in affinity-style decks anyway.
