Hello all,
I'm quite new to MTGTS, and I'm really liking it so far.
I have a few questions regarding Legacy in general, and a few questions regarding a deck I'd like to build.

Here's the list:

Creatures - 17
3 Meddling Mage
4 Dark Confidant
3 Serra Avenger
3 Mother of Runes
1 Ethersworn Canonist
1 Trinket Mage
2 Stoneforge Mystic

Instants/Sorceries - 13
3 Swords to Plowshares
2 Duress
2 Extirpate
2 Thoughtseize
2 Gerrard's Verdict
2 Hymn to Tourach

Enchantments - 1
1 Bitterblossom

Equipment - 4
2 Umezawa's Jitte
1 Sword of Feast and Famine
1 Sword of Fire and Ice

Artifacts - 3
2 Aether Vial
1 Pithing Needle

I'm not quite sure as to what land base I should use, but I know I want 22, with the prominence of Wastelands, and for the same reason, I would like one of each basic, and maybe even a few Wastelands myself.

It's definitely a Fish variant, but with more emphasis on hand control.

I have no idea what to include in the sideboard, as I have no idea what my current meta is (haven't played Legacy in quite a while).

I would greatly appreciate any recommendations regarding numbers, more effective cards, or any general information regarding the Legacy format.

And if anyone has the drastic urge to troll me and tell me how ineffective this deck will be, please inform me of how and why.

You're trying to fit too many different cards in a single deck and your consistency will take a hit. It is best to run playsets, or 3 of's, going down to several 2 of's as you did is not advised.

I had that idea last night, started to brew a list on MWS, but never finished it. Instead, went to BG Loam.......

I think that Stoneforge deserves being played has 4 of, Batterskull hits Merfolk hard, as well as most decks. Geez you even use bitterblossom like the list i thought of.
How about Academy Rector to fetch stuff like Decree of Silence? That would be a bomb.....And instead of Thoughtseize, Cabal Therapy (sacrificing Rector, Confidant if life loss hurts too much), might be nice. Running Mox Diamond or similar could be helpful for some speed.

Also, thats too much discard, unless you're in a control meta. Maybe MM could fit in. Unfortunatly Hymn might be too black mana intensive for the manabase. Testing will tell.

BTW,

And if anyone has the drastic urge to troll me and tell me how ineffective this deck will be, please inform me of how and why.

Why would it be ineffective? 3 great colors for a control deck, it just needs testing and tuning.

EDIT: lol its just like UBW Stoneblade

Splashing :u: for only Meddling Mage and Trinket Mage is just do not worth it. Stable manabase and Wasteland will win you more games than mages.

I suggest you to go to Deadguy Ale thread in Established forum. In fact, it's the same hand control Fish deck, only in :b::w: colors and there are some really tested and refined lists.

Thanks for the information, everyone!

To neosatus, my choice in having 2-of's for particular spells (Duress/Thoughtseize) was made with the idea of them having similar, but specific utilities; i.e., all 1-drops, all spot-discards, but for different purposes. I can see, however, how that could give me some inconsistency.

I do also see how the creatures being 2-of's could get a bit irritating.

To Tiago, it's quite insane how many decklists can be thought up almost identical to others'. And the only reason I didn't include 4-of Stoneforge was in the thought that I should have less of her than I did of equipment; but I've completely re-evaluated my thoughts on that -- totally forgot that 4-of was a statistical choice, haha.

And to firemind, I will most certainly check out the Deadguy Ale thread. "Splashing U for only Meddling Mage and Trinket Mage is just do not worth it. Stable manabase and Wasteland will win you more games than mages." <-- Some of the best advice I've received thus far!

I'll be posting a different decklist with all of this in mind later; thanks for all the help!
