No, that's my creature! Now, tap for the win...

I have just made a deck that I think works (i.e. doesn't break magic rules) and I could do with some help improving it.

I always liked the little Aphetto Alchemist wizard, and so I thought I would see if he could be broken. The two main ways this deck, which is not Tier 1 before you start complaining!, is:

1) Aphetto Alchemist & Wake Thrasher. Activate Aphetto on himself infinite times, then attack for the win (maybe throw a distortion strike or some shizzle like that to ensure the absurdly big thrasher gets through.

2) Aphetto Alchemist & Bazaar Trader & Betrayal. Give the alchemist to them, cast betrayal, then get it back (with homeward path or brand and draw your deck out. Then, with your entire deck in your hand, you can probably get the win (I have a courtesy spiraling embers to win outright).

It's a bit clunky, but I like the concept. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Basalt Monolith can give wake thraser a boost as well

Are you aware that you don't own the tokens that are made by Hunted Phantasm?

Since M10, the owner of a token is the player under whose control it enters the battlefield, rather than the player who controls the effect that creates it, so both Orchards and Phantasms aren't as awesome as you think.

You rely so much on Alchemist that it doesn't look that you can play without him. You should drop red for green and add 4 Seeker of Skybreak. The 3-card "draw your library" interaction doesn't work anyway, since Betrayal reads "Enchant creature an opponent controls", so as soon as you get Alchemist back, it will become illegal to enchant and Betrayal will fall off.

Ok, comments read and received... And you're right guys!

Back to the drawing board; I still like the little infinite tapping wizard, so mark my words... he will be the crux of a good deck yet!!

Back in the day before we got all these lords, I used to run Minamo, School at Water's Edge to give Wakethrasher firebreathing.

This seems even less efficient, because u need a lot of lands there.

Then u did something wrong.....
Minamo won't return itself for its own mana.
It is not an infinite combo, just blue firebreathing.
If you have an untapped Island and Minamo, you can tap the island and activate Minamo's ability to untap itself. Wake Thrasher gets +1/+1 due to Minamo untapping for a net cost of :u:.

But what exactly makes that better than let's say a Nantuko Shade or something ?
It's a 2 Card Combo to have a "1/1" Nantuko Shade for 3 Mana in blue....

You can use it in the Mesmeric Orb + Basalt Monolith as Monoliths 5-8
It's worse because you need to wait a turn to use Alchemist, but works.

No real need for Mesmeric Orb unless you wanna play the Horsemen combo, or enjoy milling yourself...

Is what I want to say: Mesmeric Orb+BasaltMonolith.deck = Horsemen Combo.

If you want to play a deck with Alchemist, it seems better choice.

Yeah, I think you're onto something there!

One thing to note though, is in this case, unearth is strictly better than reanimate assuming they haven't got any creatures in their graveyard.
I think focus on early game disruption (which you have) then finish with the thrasher 10000/10000. I'll work on it and see how it goes.
