Who double sleeves their decks, and what brand of sleeves do you use?

I haven't found any single sleeve smaller than KMC perfect fits (89x64mm) that'd fit into something the average vendor/dealer would have at a tournament.

Your patience and infinite wisdom are much appreciated.

KMC perfect fit + KMC or ultra pro sleeves work.

Sleeve KMC perfect fit with the bottom at the top, and the other sleeve with the bottom at the bottom. This is to avoid dust and scratch damaging the top edge of your card.

I have also used the KMC perfect fit sleeves, but since stopping playing mostly after GP columbus I got into board gaming.
What I found is that there is a company called mayday that makes sleeves for boardgame cards that fit like perfect fit sleeves, and are even thinner than those. The best part they are cheaper too per 100. I think you would go with standard size most likely

I use KMC perfect fits with regular Ultra Pro sleeves.

Works great.

Nice, I also prefer Ultra Pro Matte backs anyhoo, so this is good to know. Thanks guys.

Also, I've heard varying accounts of double sleeved decks not being sanctioned legal. But I've played against many a person with double sleeved decks. Is there something in the comprehensive rules stating double sleeved decks are illegal?

I think if u use the same sleeves for all cards and the same perfect size "sleeve in sleeves" for all cards and in general have every single card packed this way, there should be no problem.

Yeah, of course all 75 would be KMC>X sleeved. But I've had two or three people say to me that a judge made them desleeve their deck mid-tournament because "double sleeving was illegal" citing some form of cheating, or the potential thereof.

Makes complete since if all 75 are sleeved the exact same way, how could a sane and rational judge find a problem with a freshly double sleeved deck (that doesn't contain foils or altered cards or anything else that can be bitched about)

There's nothing in the rules about double-sleeving as far as I know. I've heard random anecdotes about it being illegal, but I've never had any problems, and I've been double-sleeving for at least 5-6 years.

+1 to KMC perfect fits into Ultra Pro Mattes. Just make sure you're buying a large enough sleeve from Ultra Pro, since they are hell bent on changing their standard sleeve size every few months it seems, and still can't get the issue that 2 adjacent packs of 50 sleeves are actually sized identically.

I have noticed there's also variance on the KMC Perfect fits too, with some being more tight on the cards than other packs.

I have heard nothing about double/triple sleeving being an issue with tournament rules. This person might just be fishing for a ruling on you. Best advice to ask the head judge prior to the tournament for clarification.

I use Dragon Shield + KMC Perfect Size sleeves. Ultra Pro and KMC regular sleeves split way to often in my hands whereas Dragon Shields almost never breaks.

I find black Ultra Pro matte sleeves too tight for KMC perfect fits. Ulta Pro regular sleeves or dragonshields are good with them.

I use KMC perfect fit + Ultra Pro Matte for my regular non-foil decks and use KMC perfect fit + DragonShields for my FOIL deck.Approved both configurations.

I just found this out too, trying to double sleeve my vintage deck. It didn't work. Specifically, the black Ultra Pro mattes are not friendly to KMC Perfect fits.

I have double sleeved EDH, with that combination. Did work just fine. Don't remember how hard it was, but i use them and have other decks with Dragon Shield + Perfect fit. Both are doing just fine.

I also do this, for similar reasons.

Thanks jackass.

I guess I'll phrase it differently, anyone have a link to KMC perfect fits that you use (because they're cheap)? I'm needing to buy a shit load of them, and the standard places (TrollandToad, StarCity, etc.) seem pricey.

I heard that the KMC Perfect Fits may not size correctly with the KMC Matte Series? Any truth to this? I know the Fits fit the KMC Super series but I remember seeing a forum post somewhere in the Magic website ether said that when they bought a new set of KMC Mattes the KMC Perfect Fits didn't actually fit nicely even though past ones did...just wondering if anyone recently has bought new KMC Fits + KMC Mattes and double sleeved?

@whienot Thanks for the link to the site that sells sleeves etc in bulk with decent shipping. Definitely cheaper buying in bulk from there than on Trollandtoad etc.

Potomac Distribution should have them fairly affordably. That's where I buy my sleeves.

This is true. KMC Perfect Fits work better with Ultra Pro and Dragon Shields, strangely.

Thanks...although that was an answer I did not want to hear lol as I kind of wanted to double sleeve my legacy blade control as well as EDH deck with fits and kmc mattes. Guess I should wait and hopefully KMC corrects their Matte sizing :/

The Ultra Pro pro-mattes are very sweet sleeves and I heard mixed reviews on here about them fitting with KMC perfect sleeves, well I tried it today and they didn't fit, on the packaging they state they're 1mm smaller.

I've had this issue as well. There is a workaround of sorts. You put the card in the perfect fit sleeve. then you insert it into the other sleeve really slowly until just before they start to ride up on the card. Now turn the card over and use the bottom of the perfect fit to push the card into the sleeve against a hard flat surface. It's not perfect, but once you get the hang of it you'll get it so that they don't stick out anymore.

I've taken the hard-pack sleeves Ultra Pro makes (thick plastic ones) and used it to slam the card into the sleeve. It takes a few "bangs" but I feel like it does a safer job of inserting the card all the way in. I turn the double-sleeved around to push it down to the bottom of the outer sleeve.

My issue with the inner sleeve not fitting into the outer sleeve is that there were noticeable ripples/accordian waves where the inner sleeve opening met resistance in the outer sleeve. This was a sure sign that they are not sized appropriately.

I believe UltraPro Mattes come in 2 sizes, with the the newer style being more tightly fit on the cards than in years past. This may be the issue as to why there is difficulty in double sleeving.

For reference -
KMC are 89 x 64mm
Ultra Pro Mattes are 91 x 66 mm

Thanks anonymos and Koby, I'll try those methods.
