Hi guys,

I was thinking about an idea for a deck that revolves around infinite turn taking (always a fun topic!).

This one is not something that I have seen, which probably means that it isn't competitive, but if I post it here, hopefully people can help me spruce it up.

The idea is to use Magosi, the Waterveil, to both put on a counter and remove it in the same turn. You then copy the "take another turn" ability, meaning that the net result is an extra turn for you.

I.e. Skip your next turn; take the next turn. Copy, take the next turn. I do this using Rings of brighthearth. The win con is Jace, the overpowered sculptor.

The decklist I'm using at the moment is:

// Lands
4 [ZEN] Magosi, the Waterveil
4 [ON] Polluted Delta
2 [TE] Ancient Tomb
4 [ZEN] Island
2 [ON] Flooded Strand
4 [OD] Deserted Temple
2 [OD] Petrified Field
2 [TSP] Academy Ruins
3 [EX] City of Traitors

// Spells
4 [NPH] Mental Misstep
4 [TE] Lotus Petal
4 [AQ] Transmute Artifact
2 [M12] Ponder
1 [WWK] Jace, the Mind Sculptor
3 [AQ] Candelabra of Tawnos
3 [AL] Force of Will
2 [UL] Grim Monolith
4 [LRW] Rings of Brighthearth
4 [IA] Brainstorm
2 [DIS] Spell Snare

The ideal board position involves
Magosi, candelabra of tawnos or deserted temple, and rings of brighthearth, and a few mana.

Tap 1 mana and Magosi, and add a counter. Tap 1 mana, untap magosi. Use the 'take another turn ability' and tap 2 mana to copy it. Total is 4 mana, and 3 card combo. Replay Magosi.
Next turn, repeat.
*cue evil laugh*

I have a good sized counterspell base, with a fair drawing and mana acceleration to try and power through.

Thoughts guys?

If Jace gets discarded then it's over unless you run Feldon's Cane effects. May I suggest Emrakul instead since he is more reliable, dodges graveyard/pithing needle and wins in 2 turns so less worries of decking yourself.

Also, you already have a Tinker-effect in the form of Transmute Artifact but no Crop Rotation for lands. With Gifts Ungiven you get 2 pieces of the combo:

Magosi
x-artifact (Candles,Rings)
Crop Rotation
Transmute

This requires 4 Seat of the Synods to be effective, or Sol Ring :) A bit far from being competitive but fun for casual, EDH though.

If you really want to do this, you need to look at a better shell, and use a better plan. Thanks for the credit by the way, since you put this up the day after I mentioned it, I'm assuming you got the idea from me.

4x Stoneforge Mystic
4x Knight of the Reliquary

1x Batterskull
1x Umezawa's Jitte
1x Sword of the Meek

Artifacts
2x Thopter Foundry
2x Rings of Brighthearth
2x Crucible of Worlds
2x Engineered Explosives

Planeswalkers
3x Jace, the Mindsculptor
2x Elsepth, Knight Errant

Instants
4x Swords to Plowshares
2x Thirst for Knowledge
4x Brainstorm

Lands
4x Wasteland
1x Maze of Ith

1x Magosi, the Waterveil
1x Deserted Temple
1x Academy Ruins
3x Flooded Strand
3x Misty Rainforest
3x Tundra
2x Tropical Island
2x Savannah
1x Island

Alternatively you can run a Wargate/GSZ based deck around Prismatic Omen with Valakut/Scapeshift as an alt-win, but making Magosi the main focus of your deck won't win you many games.
