Is playing a card with Horsemanship a low-blow or a crafty move? Are there any unwritten rules about playing these cards?

No real unwritten rules about them. They are just pretty much unblockable creatures. The casting cost on most of them tends to reflect a creature with an unblockable ability anyway. They are all fairly unplayable past EDH. About the only card even borderline playable is Riding the Dilu Horse. The rest are mostly EDH or collector fodder sadly.

There is nothing "wrong" with using cards that refer to Horsemanship. Horsemanship is an ability that is on legal cards.
I agree with Dahcmai for the most part. Many are not great.
I used Wu Scout for a while in a UW Fishy kind of deck and it was pretty good. For 1U I could land an effective meddling mage and swing with Wu Scout equipped with a Jitte. Pitches to FOW, haha.
I'm not sure if I would test Wu Scout again but with equips (SoFI/Jitte) it was a bomb!
It's unfortunate that Rolling Earthquake is so expensive.
Back to the OP though, there's nothing wrong with it. Seems silly to get upset with someone for using legal cards.

You mean similar to the gentleman's agreement surrounding Reanimator?

Vital skill to possess in case you ever have to steal one to escape.

What's funny is I kind of give bonus points to anyone using Horsemanship cards since they are pretty bad usually, but really cool. There's something to be said for dropping Sun Quan and giving your Tombstalkers and Confidants horsemanship.
Ugh, don't remind me about Rolling Earthquake. I was just trying to find a fourth one when that card decided to finally get noticed and go up a ridiculous amount. I loved that card.
