Mark Sun is a good guy, glad to see he did well even if he got knocked out of top8 early.

Where are the actual lists? Doesn't look like there's a link to the lists like there is for Day 1, unless someone knows and I'm just blind.

Wizards Event Coverage is known for being terrible. They finally put up the lists for the Vintage Championships this morning.

They're probably behind finishing the Legacy coverage. They don't even have the finals between NO RUG and Merfolk up yet.

EDIT: Finals coverage has been posted.

Anyone who made top 8 care to post their decklist? Doesn't look like wotc is getting to it. So amateur!

Hey guys. Back from Gen Con, and ready to sit back and relax after a long weekend.

Thanks for all the kind words, this is the list that I registered on Saturday:

4 Misty Rainforest
4 Wooded Foothills
1 Scalding Tarn
3 Tropical Island
3 Volcanic Island
1 Taiga
1 Forest
2 Dryad Arbor

2 Grim Lavamancer
3 Noble Hierarch
1 Birds of Paradise
4 Tarmogoyf
3 Vendilion Clique
1 Trygon Predator
1 Progenitus

2 Force of Will
3 Daze
3 Mental Misstep
3 Green Sun’s Zenith
4 Natural Order
4 Brainstorm
1 Ponder
1 Sylvan Library
4 Lightning Bolt
1 Fire/Ice

SB:
3 Submerge
2 Pyroblast
2 Red Elemental Blast
3 Counterspell
2 Ancient Grudge
1 Force of Will
2 Umezawa’s Jitte

I'll eventually write a report when I have time. My matchups were:

R1: 2-0 Mirror (Ben Steiner, Kuma on here)
R2: 2-1 Enchantress
R3: 2-0 B/W
R4: 2-1 Zoo
R5: 1-2 Mirror (Reed Hartman, 2nd place)
R6: 2-1 Mirror
R7: 2-0 Reanimator
R8: 2-1 Maverick
R9: ID

I played Jared in the first round of the playoffs in Top 8. He was an awesome guy to have as an opponent and every bit deserving of the trophy. I had a lot of Top 8 jitters in the first game and wound up throwing away a Natural Order when he had Vial at 1, and had just revealed Cursecatcher to Silvergill. I sucked it up and played tighter for Game 2 and Game 3. In Game 3, I tried to preserve a red source (2 Wastelands already hitting Taiga and Volcanic Island) by using my only Zenith to find Birds of Paradise. I should have just gotten Tarmogoyf and started the beats. He snuck in a Coralhelm Commander and put it to Level 2, and I couldn't find a Bolt. I start drawing dead and Merfolk does its thing...

Overall I was still happy with the decklist and the weekend overall. It was my first trip to Gen Con, and one to remember

Just curious, Morbid, but what were the Top 8 prizes? Obv bigass FoW plaque, but what did WotC offer for the "Champs" in an eternal format?

2nd got one of each dual
3rd and 4th got italian legends and P3K if I remember right
probably standard packs below that

Morbid, I'm pretty sure the B/W you played Round 3 was me. Did you dominate Game 2 with Grim Lavamancer? And I think I made a joke about how useless Perish felt.

Congrats on the finish, Mark. At least if I had to lose round one, I'm glad it was to someone I know and like.

Not quite 8, but I did finish 16th with NO RUG.

Why oh why didn't I play Ooze!

Lost to Reanimator and Dredge ( Dredge guy made Top 8)

I wonder when NO RUG will start to be pushed back again. Right now, it's the MVP of the format, especially since it just outperforms the recently hyped UW Stoneblade.

Top8 Lists are also available on Eternal Central. (http://www.eternal-central.com/?p=1773&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+EternalCentral+%28Eternal+Central%29)

It reminds me about Canadian Thresh so much from a few years back where it doesn't seem to have many terrible match ups.

And you are right about the Stoneblade builds, the deck seems to totally wreck them and it has a decent matchup vs. Merfolk imo. Pretty sure NO RUG should of won that finals match, I was watching it live that night and it seemed like he punted Game 3. Should of killed the Lord precombat with jitte, then killed coralhelm next turn with jitte after attack and fire/ice. That would of left him with just a cursecatcher on his site if I remember correctly.

Hindsight I suppose eh....

Am I the only one that hates HATES HATES ridiculous packs as prizes? I would rather take just about anything besides OOP packs.

I missed Gen Con this year and hope to go back next year, but I wonder if I'm even going to play in some of these events if the prize structure remains the same.

On a different note: Legacy Champs Top 8 had 8 different archetypes. Legacy, you're the best.

EDIT: Margin of error +/- 1 archetype.

I'm at work, cut me some slack...

I was at Gen Con this year and chose not to play because I didn't want the ridiculous packs OR the Counterbalance of Will painting.

I wonder how top 16/32 looked like. If it had more archetypes on top of the Top8

Man, my buddies who come back with Italian LG packs and P3K packs crack open Moat and Imperial Recruiter during pack wars. Most epic pack wars you can ever get: Imperial Recruiter tutoring for Zodiac Rabbit!

I guess if you really like cracking packs... Just give us Duals Lands or FoW or Wastelands, a set of Fetches, anything really. It's not like they don't know how expensive these cards are; it would certainly make playing more enticing.

I agree, I got 24 Scars block packs, I'd much rather have a Dual land which equates to simliar value. The best I could probably sell them for is 3 and that is pushing it. 24x3=72 which gets me almost to Tropical, so just give me a Tropical 80)
