Félix Lapan, a Legacy player from Montreal, recently made top 8 at the Star City Games Legacy Open in Pittsburgh with a deck close to his hearth that he’s been tuning and playing for years.

You can read his tournament report on my blog here:

Kind of ironic that he's playing a combo deck whose worst matchups appear to be aggro decks like Zoo. It's nice to see a rogue deck do so well at a large tournament though.

Zoo is in fact a very good matchup. As you can read, I beat my other Zoo opponent (round 4) on turn 3 game 1 and on turn 2 game 2. I play this deck since a long time and it was the first time I lose to Zoo without the help of Gadock Teeg (and I have Slaughter Pact in the board to deal Teeg, anyway). I lost the semi finale match because I kept clunky hands of 6 cards on the three games and Dan Musser got very explosive hands both game 2 and 3. He also played well on both of those games.

Anyway, for those who want to discuss more about the deck, consult the thread here at The Source:

Though there's some truth in Zilla's statement. Pattern of Rebirth doesn't seem so hot against a deck with like 12 spot removal spells while Progenitus might be too slow unless it comes down turn2.
