Playing an all black deck or a deck with black w/splash, is it wise to use Word of command in the board?

First, against the Hive Mind Combo, you can just cast the pact before they are ready to do so. You can tap their mana out. Worst case scenario, if they just tap the mana out, it willl be a timewalk for 2.

second. my next question about this card...can i make them use mana abilities beyond the casting cost of the card?

Third, next question. Say they have a wasteland out, I use word of command, can I use the wasteland not for its mana abilities, then cast the card of my choice?

Look at target opponent's hand and choose a card from it. You control that player until Word of Command finishes resolving. The player plays that card if able. While doing so, the player can activate mana abilities only if they're from lands he or she controls and only if mana they produce is spent to activate other mana abilities of lands he or she controls and/or play that card. If the chosen card is cast as a spell, you control the player while that spell is resolving.

I believe the answer to both questions is no.

EDIT: Although you can chain mana abilities, if I understand correctly, but in the end you pay for the casting cost of the card you've chosen. For example, you can tap two lands to use Aysen Abbey for green or blue mana.

To be honest, I don't see this card being very useful.

Well, yes, if you cast Word of Command and there's a legal target, you might find the opponent with one of those "free spells" from Future Sight and get an easy win.

Word of Command is usually rather useless because the opponent can cast any spell you could use in your favor before Word resolves, or because most of time the opponent doesn't have mana to cast any of the spells in their hand, but I see how these "free spells" are an exception to the rule.

Given that the deck you want to hate plays Pact of Negation, you would have to cast Word of Command after there's another spell in the stack. Luckily, Word of Command is an instant, so it's feashible (for example, after the opponent casts Show and Tell but before it resolves).

But I like how you pointed out that Word of Command acts as a better Mana Short for 2 mana if cast on your opponent's upkeep. Will have to test this idea further.

It was a cute idea for Hive Mind hate, but it's really, really, narrow. It was always a pretty useless card and hasn't changed much. I guess if you have a ton of Hive Mind in your area, it's fairly awesome then. I wouldn't play it at anything else though.

W is easier to splash than BB.

I think SCG caught on already, Word of Command is $100. Card is awful though.
