Goblin Chieftain

This is a noob question but here goes.

Say I attack with Goblin Chieftain and another 1/1 goblin. The 1/1 goblin gets pumped up to 2/2 because of Chieftain. When I attack and tap my 2 creatures swinging for a total of 4 damage, my opponent lightning bolts my Chieftain killing it. Is my 1/1 goblin still a 2/2 or does it automatically become a 1/1 and only deals 1 damage to my opponent?

Goblin Chieftain provides a continuous effect while it's on the battlefield. Removing it from the battlefield ends the continuous effect, and turning the 1/1 (with a +1/+1 bonus) back to a 1/1 as printed.
